Her looks indicate that she has everything together, but her problems tell otherwise. Chip, or as he wishes to be called 'Colonel' is Alaska's boyfriend. His good looks are inveigle; his arrogance and his drinking make him less of a man in the eyes of his peers. Chip and Alaska had an on-and-off relationship. His own romance with Lara Buterskaya proved to be an awkward experience. In the midst of growing up and finding who he really is, his friendship with Alaska develops into a passionate romance. Miles and Alaska's first kiss occurred during the friendship stage of their relationship and was a bit uncomfortable for both teens. Alaska and Miles eventually cast friendship aside and begin an intimate relationship. Miles fell in love with Alaska much to the dismay of Alaska. A few chapters later, the book consumes every spare minute of the readerof as the storyline gets better and better with each chapter. The childish antics of Miles and his friends are comical and entertaining. Alaska was an innovated and amusing character that was easy to fall in love with. The tender bonding between Chip and Miles, after Alaska's death is poignant and heartwarming. This tragedy leads two teens into a friendship that will prove the test of time. Each chapter in John Green's novel captures the excitement, happiness, affection, bonding, and even the sadness of the storyline and characters. The reader cannot help but fall in love with this
