“No matter how much it hurts, how dark it gets or no matter how far you fall, you are never out of the fight,” the Seal commander said before the covert mission to take out a notorious Taliban commander. Four US Navy SEALs positions are compromised when they stumble upon a group of Afghan goatherds. The squad retreats deep into the mountains and the Seals are outnumbered and outgunned by a pursuing Taliban force.
Lone Survivor is a 2013 American war film written and directed by Peter Berg. It stars Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster, and Eric Bana. The film is based on the 2007 nonfiction book with the same name written by Marcus Luttrell and Patrick Robinson. In response to these killings, a United States Navy SEALs unit is ordered to execute a counter-insurgent mission to capture Shah. As part of the mission, a four-man SEAL reconnaissance and surveillance team is tasked with locating Shah. These four SEALs include team leader Michael P. "Murph" Murphy; snipers Marcus Luttrell and Matthew "Axe" Axelson; and communications specialist Danny Dietz. The team is inserted into the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, where they make a trek through the mountains. Here, they begin to encounter communications problems, which play a critical role in the following events. Despite injuries, the SEALs continue a defensive retreat through the steep woods.
