In investigating changes in my lifestyle factors, I observe strong interactions between dietary habits, mental attitude, various relationships, and physical activity which are supportive of my health. When balancing these factors, I look to my dietary habits as fundamental. By knowing the effects food has, I am able to make choices in challenging situations which allow me to keep elevated energy, keep focused throughout the day, and have a positive mental attitude to aid me in responding to relationships in a positive way.

The integration of a nutrient-dense whole food diet has assisted me in having a positive mental attitude during challenging situations. In stressful or uncomfortable circumstances, I challenge myself to first focus on a positive aspect of each situation. Not being so quick pick out the negative, my mental attitude stays even throughout the day without facing a roller coaster of emotions. I have struggled in the past with being too hasty to judge a situation negatively, which led me to become angry and upset very quickly. My husband commented regularly on how pessimistic I had become over the years. I directly link this negative attitude to stressful family and work relationships, lack of physical activity, and poor dietary habits. With his support and surpassing my dietary inadequacies, I have been in a position to overcome this dismal attitude and can now find the positive in situations which once were impossible.

Along with my past challenges with a pessimistic mental attitude, I have struggled with harmful family relationships with certain family members. For many years of running to their aid and the disruptive nature of these relationships, I often became depressed and my health deteriorated as these...

... My husband and I are working on this area of our lifestyle and with his support, I hope to increase my physical activity by adding a minimum of 30 mins of exercise per day. On days where I am successful with this addition, I see the enhancement in my overall lifestyle.

While self reflecting on these lifestyle factors, I notice a strong connection with the changes I have made and how each area has been effected. Since addressing my dietary habits, I feel as if my life has been completely changed in extremely positive ways. Without the support of my husband, I would not have been able to make these positive changes. He continually pushes and supports me and I am incredibly fortunate to have such a supportive partner. As I continue to work on enhancing each area, I look forward to positive ways my health will continue to grow and the interaction with one another.
