Life Is But A Choice
Beginning with the time of birth until the time of death, people have to
make choices everyday on how to achieve the goals in their lives. One can
imagine life as a long winding road with millions of other roads branching off
in many directions. The only problem is that life is too short to explore every
single road. In addition, the essence of time will not allow anyone to go back
to a road that was passed. Everyone must choose his/her own roads through life
regardless of what other people might think. Robert Frost wrote in The Road Not
Taken, " I took the one less traveled by And that has made all the difference
"(Frost 423). By managing ones time efficiently and making clear rational
choices, one can achieve a healthy mind, body and spirit.
One important choice in life is having a healthy mind. The key to
achieving a healthy mind is to be open minded. Since the day we are born, we
are bombarded with information from television, radios, books, magazines, and
what we observe personally. The world is filled with a vast amount of
information and each individual is responsible for obtaining, understanding, and
making value judgments on this information. One must understand the world around

The first few years of a young child’s life, from birth to four years old, are very critical to his/her overall development, due to most of the time, teacher professionals are individuals who play the key and an active role in their early childhood development are teacher professionals who have a passion and a genuine desire to help them learn, grow and succeed in their education. Just like Rawlings had once said, “I am able to make a significant impact on the lives of children and families that use this setting” (128). This can be true for those who have the passion and want to change lives, but how does someone change a life on another human being? Does it start from becoming a fireman, a policeman, or even a doctor? These are all great ways to change a life, but this writer is going to talk about how becoming an Early Childhood Educator can change the life of a child. Working with children at a young age can be a great challenge, but having the feeling of success makes all the difficulties disappear.
Training our thoughts can be the most relevant step in reaching true happiness. Meditation seems to be a great way to stay in touch with our thoughts and to practice mind training. Being aware of our positive and negative thoughts and truly paying attention to how we perceive life events can make a difference in our daily lives. Susan David, Instructor in Psychology at Harvard University, Ilona Boniwell, one of the European leaders in positive psychology and Amanda Ayers, writer, mention the importance of positive emotions in the book “The Oxford Book of Happiness”. The authors state “Specifically, positive emotions have been shown to broaden and expand our attention, fueling novel approaches to thought and action. Over time, positive emotions “add up” leading to the long-term build effect on consequential personal resources.” (David et al. 58). It takes practice, however, it is something that can be done little by little, day by day. Being aware of your own thoughts means realizing that negative thoughts do exist, but with mind training, positive thinking should take over our minds, not leaving space for anything else but positivity. Furthermore, when one achieves a positive mind state and practices mind transformation, one becomes aware of one’s inner emotions, thus, being able to control and perceive new information in a different light. Matthieu Ricard argues in his TED Talk that there is research demonstrating the power of meditation and how it positively affects parts of our brains. According to U.S. Department of Education, Early Education teacher means “any professional working in Early Learning and Development Programs, including but not limited to center-based and family child care providers, infant and toddler specialists, early administrators, Head Start teachers, Early Head Start teachers, preschool and other teachers, teacher assistants, family services staff, and health coordinators.” Some reason why people want to become an early education teacher persist of good education programs, wages/benefits, and the skills people need to have for the job.
