The human brain stops developing in the early 20’s. Making your own life choices gives your life meaning. Making your own life choices isn’t good because some people can't handle the responsibilities or the consequences that come with that. Making your own life choices also allows for more freedom. Sometimes it’s ok for people to make their own life choices.

No one is perfect, not even those who feel superior to others; however those who wish to follow their dreams are more alive than ever. Of course, no one makes wise choices but following your own aspiration makes a person more alive. The reason for this is because they are following their own dreams. In fact, the people who go out and follow their dreams are explorer or achievers but the vision of their dreams can become fatal. Chris McCandless was a hitchhiker who went out to Alaska to get away from society. Unfortunately, he died, but along the book Into the Wild, by Jon Krakauer, he takes the readers through Chris’s thoughts and journeys before he heads to Alaska. Naturally Chris had knowledge, skills, and independence but he had some
Living is about making choices. The choices people make shape their lives for better or worse. Even the decision not to choose has its effects, often not wanted. But the individual who chooses to make positive choices and to act accordingly is more likely to see his or her life reflect his or her beliefs and desires. Usually the individual who chooses to take action is also willing to face the risks and obstacles that such choices involve.
Choices that people make have a giant place in their lives. Most of us consider that we do these choices freely, that we have free will to make these choices. The point that most of us miss is free will is not simple as is it looks like. When one makes choices doesn’t he consider that what would that choices lead him to? Therefore does he make those choices for his benefits or his desires to make those choices? Does the environment push him to make those choices or does he have the free will to ignore his own environment? Philosopher and writes splits around those questions. There is different thesis, beliefs about free will. Some say that we are conditioned from birth with qualities of our personality, social standing and attitudes. That we do not have free will, our choices shapes up by the world we born in to. Some others believe that we born as a blank paper we could shape by the occasions or choices that we make freely. Marry Midgley on her article “Freedom and Heredity” defends that without certain limitations for instance our talents, capacities, natural feelings we would not need to use free will. Those limitations lead us to use free will and make choices freely. She continues without our limitations we do not need to use free will. Free will needs to be used according to our needs but when mentioning need not as our moral need as our needs to what could we bring up with our capacities. We need to use our free will without stereotypes. Furthermore free will should be shaped by the choice that would lead us good consequences.
Emerging Adulthood represents the period of development from late teens through their twenties, mainly focusing on the ages 18-25. This is the period which people start exploring and realizing the capabilities of their lives, which then helps them characterize as adults and no longer teenagers. This topic of psychology is compelling to me because it’s a stage that every adult has lived through, it’s interesting that we have all experienced it differently based on our life circumstances and demographics. It’s interesting to see the changes throughout the years and eventually it will be easier for young people to explore these years as more young adults are going to school nowadays. It teaches me to further understand why emerging adults go through
It’s about how to lead your life. If you lead your life the right way… the dreams will come to you.” To me, this statement means something. After reading this book, I can say I agree with this statement. I believe that working hard toward your dreams, then achieving them, will lead your life in the right way.
Many people are confused when asked about fate and destiny. Through an extensive interview of five young adults, I was able to cover a basic understanding on this topic. Three of the subjects in question were generally unsure of how much free will is available, if choices are true or forced upon them by a higher power. The forth believed that destiny has no effect on life. To counteract this variance basic information was given.
Life is very much like driving. You are free to choose any one of the many options before you both now and in the future, but not every option will take you where God would want you to go.
Late adulthood is known as the period of life after middle adulthood, usually from around 65 years old to death (Santrock, 2013, p. 485). There are many varying stages of development and health in late adulthood, along with steady changing of life expectancy. Aging is a part of life, and with it comes changes in every area of living. Many diseases find late adulthood as an opportune time to affect people. Eventually, whether caused by disease or another reason, every individual dies. Death is unique to every person, and healthcare in America is changing to reflect that. This stage of life is a time when bodily processes and functions may be decreasing, but depending on lifestyle choices, death can come at different times.
Confronted by the decision of whether or not to explore this tunnel, I couldn’t help but to ponder the importance of choice itself. What difference does this choice make? Life is choice, a long series of decisions made exclusively by the individual. We all have the power to determine the course of our own lives through the choices we make, every instant of every waking day. Think about the people you know, the clothes you wear or the food you eat, it’s all a matter of your individual choice. Every decision we make is linked to another moment in the course of life, be it significant or not, we may never know how important our individual choices really are. Examples of these life changing decisions can be seen everywhere, in any choice we make. The choice that my parents made to attend the same formal, in Middle America, where they met that one night in 1968, allowed for my existence today. So if it weren’t for that choice I wouldn’t even be choosing my words.
All your life growing up, you don 't have to make any big decisions. This all changes senior year when you have to make a decision about what you are going to do with your life after high school. What you choose to do can dictate how you spend your time and money. If you do not make a choice you will not be able to move on towards being a self supporting adult. Decisions are hard to make but essential to keep moving forward.
...ences and make spot on decisions, there is a lower chance of successful living. Therefore, the age at which a person lives alone, currently at the age of 18, should be raised to a higher age due to the brain development and decision making process of a teen.
When growing up in this day, with many of our fellow men and women trying to get a taste of the good life. They will try to obtain happiness in very different ways with how they treat each other. The choices I have made have given me great opportunities to create a better and more fulfilling life for me. The reason I believe that choices affect our lives so greatly is because most of us our given a fair chance in todays world. An example from my life is being able to get over family problems with my dad. I made a life choice not to have contact with him because of the man I saw when I was a child. The troubles in my family will help me be a strong and more independent person throughout my life. Having independence will help me continue to grow into a hopefully more successful adult. Making the choice in not having contact with my father was a difficult decision. It was hard to keep a relationship with my real brother because he still keeps in touch with my dad. My older brother may look down on my choice, but I believe that I made a better choice. In the future I may have regretted in not speaking to my father, but for right now I think it is better to cut all communication with him. Being able to make a hard choices in cutting communicati...
We make choices every hour, every minute, and every second of our lives; whether big or small our choices are slowly putting us in the direction we choose or end up. Many of us do not realize what contributes to the choices we make and why it affects others the same way if affects us and because of this many authors and writers have written stories and articles about coming to terms with making a choice and how to better ourselves when it comes to decision-making for the future.
