The film Life and Freedom looks at two tribes and how they survive with and without the forest. The first tribe, the Sahariyas used to live in the forest and depended on it for their survival. However there was a push for protecting the forest and the tigers so they were removed from the area and it was turned into a national park. Now the people suffer from malnutrition. The other tribe is the Baigas who still live in their forest. They use the forest for medicine, food, clean water, rice and more. They aim to provide women with the skills and resources to be self-employed and create an income for their family. The main objective is to help women come out of debt. Once a woman has bought material and hired a machine, she does not have a lot of money left and that is when she falls into debt. However, SEWA unifies women together and they support each other. SEWA has also had some added benefits for the women such as women now have more power within their family. Often their husbands do not like them working but once they start contributing to the household income, they like it. Women get more power within the family and are respected more by their husbands because they are contributing to the income. This also relates back to Kerala. Women in Kerala inherit land from their mothers (Jeffry, 2005). This had an effect on women getting more of a voice in society, education for all girls and having more employment opportunities (Jeffry, 2005). When women get the opportunity to have ownership over land or earn an income, it has social effects which has been shown in both Kerala and SEWA. SEWA provides women with a safety net if something happens to them or their family. SEWA also concentrates on educating them how to improve their quality of work. The higher skilled women teach the lower skilled women. This also relates back to Kerala. In the
Bridge to Freedom provides the historical documentary behind the events that served as the narrative for Selma. Instead of a drama, the viewers receive an actual documentary that shows the confrontations between the marchers and the government. In basketball, the National Championship game is the dream of every kid that plays basketball in college. NC State’s basketball team wasn’t well known in 1983. Jim Valvano was the coach and he knew he had a great group of kids. When they won the ACC tournament against the great Ralph Sampson and Virginia, people thought that the win was just luck and they probably wouldn’t make last when they got into the tournament. Throughout the tournament, NC State kept surviving and advancing. In Johnathan Hock’s documentary “Survive and Advance”, Hock uses stock footage of the games that were played during the tournament, different points of view from the players, and the sequence of the documentary to prove that NC State’s basketball team were the underdogs during the whole tournament; however they were able to win despite their adversity
The film Jindabyne, is a story about death, marriage, and race in an Australian town in New South Wales called Jindabyne. In the film, four men go fishing, and one of them discovers the dead body of a young indigenous girl. Instead of reporting what they found to the police immediately, they decide to stay and continue fishing. They decide that there is nothing they could do for her, so they tie her legs to a tree and continue with their fishing, reporting the death only when they return home. After they are done with their weekend of fishing and report the incident, conflict starts, as the men are criticized for not respecting the dead. Through the story of the town’s reaction to the four fishermen’s response to the dead girl, the movie shows Australia to be fragmented and divided over white-indigenous relations.

The Bad and The Beautiful (1952) and State and Main (2000) are films within films that unmask Hollywood Cinema as a dream factory and expose the grotesque, veneer hidden by the luxury of stars. The Bad and the Beautiful, directed by Vincent Minnelli, is a black and white film narrated in flashback form. The films theatrical nature requires more close-ups than wide-screen shots to capture the character’s psychological turmoil. For example, Fred and Jonathan’s car ride is captured in a close-up to signify their friendship; however their relationship deteriorates after Jonathan’s deceit. While the camera zooms out, Fred stands alone motionless. Here, Fred is captured from a distance at eye-level and he becomes ostracized by the film industry and

Some people thought that it showed a misrepresentation of the concentration camp, whilst other thought it showed the triumph. However, in March 1999 it was nominated. for seven Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director.

The film that I have chosen to analyze is “The Purge”. “The Purge” is a 2013 American horror film directed by James DeMonaco. It was released on June 7, 2013, to mixed reviews. I will be analyzing “The Purge” by looking at conflict theory, class division, the importance of the ethnicity of each individual character, and the government’s overall political and economic agenda. In brief, I believe that Purge night takes place because of Conflict theory, due to political and economic agendas.
America has come a long way with how people are treated as opposed to how things use to be not so long ago. In the film American History X (1998) we see how some parts of America were not adjusting to change in their towns which resulted in violent outbreaks and many deaths. Although throughout the movie we see the main character, Derek Vinyard (Edward Norton) that at the beginning of the film is in a “white power” gang and later transforms as a character to protect his brother and the rest of his family from being hurt and corrupted by the racist world that they were living in.

The term `freedom' is often associated with the notion of living free of restraint and having an unfettered liberty to engage in rational actions with a sense that that our actions will not be controlled or interfered with.
