Dear sister, your desire to help the people of Libya is inspiring and admirable. The country has weathered many political, economic, and social hardships and still stands today. This is a true testament to the spirit of the people, a real diamond in the rough. Progress is occurring, but still many problems taint Libya:

The Libyan government needs to realize that the mismanagement of oil wealth is hurting their country. Vast oil fields have centralized economic power in the hands of those who control it. This stints private sector growth and more often than not the wealth from the petroleum doesn't return back into the Libyan economy. At some point the oil reserves will run out or more accessible oil will be discovered elsewhere. In the wise words of Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, "My grandfather rode a camel, my father rode a camel, I drive a Mercedes, my son drives a Land Rover, his son will drive a Land Rover, but his son will ride a camel." The government needs to take steps to move power from oil companies to smaller businesses and back into the hands of the people. Children do not naturally hate the opposite branch of Islam, they are taught to reject all other ways other than that of their parents. In order to enact educational reform steps need to be taken to improve the physical infrastructure, teacher training and quality, and employment rates of graduates. Confucius quotes quite simply, "If your plan is for one year, plant rice. If your plan is for ten years, plant trees. If your plan is for one hundred years, education children." Take the children out of the war-zone and put them back in the classroom. Put dreams in their heads instead of traumatizing memories.
