Supernatural beliefs show what people believe in after death and how they think the god(s) affect their everyday life. There is freedom of religion in Lesotho and for the most part this right is respected. There have been no incidents of forced religious conversion, religion oriented terrorist attacks, or restrictions put on practicing any specific belief. This shows that the Sotho people respect religions. It also means that they do not segregate based on religious beliefs. This is good because many conflicts start over religious grounds.
The majority of people in Lesotho are Christian, 80%, and within that most are Catholic,65%. They believe in a single God who rules over everything and going to heaven in the afterlife, if one is a believer. In general, the Christian outlook on life is positive. There is an impact when it comes to weddings because ministers and priests are heavily involved in that. As well, many of their schools were started by the Catholic Church and continue to be run by them. By attending these Catholic schools Catholicism began to be accepted by the people. However, a lot of people mix their indigenous beliefs into Christianity showing that these are also of importance. During a Catholic service a priest may still wear traditional tribal garb. They have also incorporated chanting and drumming, both traditional practices, into the worship service. There is also a small percentage of people who practice only the traditional indigenous beliefs.
There is also a small Muslim populations in the Northeast part of the country. The majority of Muslim people immigrated into the country. Most of are Asian descent with some also from the Middle East. There are several mosques located throughout the country. The immigrants into the country also make up very small Hindu and Buddhist
