Les Miserables
Les Miserables is one of the most captivating plays of our lifetime! It grabs the audience and pulls you in head first.
You can't take out eyes off of the stage, and even if you can, the music will take your breath away! I have seen the play 3 times and I don't think I enjoy anything in this world more than watching that play!
Les Miserables starts off on a chain gang in France. The sheriff comes out and gives one of the convicts his release papers. This convict is the lead role who name is Jeran
Valjean, who has served 19 years on the chain gang for stealing a mouthful of bread. Jean Valjean leaves the prison and sets out to find work. But no one will give him work because of his tattoo which reads 24601, his prison ID number.
Then in the time when he couldn't be more down a priest invites Valjean to stay with him. Despite the kind priest taking him in and feeding him, Valjean decides to take the silver from the table. In the run he gets captured be the police. But instead of telling the truth about Valjeans thievery, he gives the criminal more silver and sends the police away. He makes
Jean Valjean promise that he will become an honest man with this silver.
The next scene in 10 years later set in a factory where we meat the other main character, Fantine. As she is reading a letter her perverted boss snatches it up with his hands and

Atherosclerosis is a disease that occurs when arteries become blocked, inflamed, or hardened. As a result of this, blood cannot easily pass through the artery, and blood pressure increases. Many people suffer from atherosclerosis as they age, but young people can be affected by atherosclerosis also. There are many preventative steps that can be taken to decrease the risk of atherosclerosis; however, if atherosclerosis does develop in the arteries, medications can be given to help the individual receive adequate blood flow to important tissues. Atherosclerosis is a very serious condition that requires medical attention and a change in life style because it is a precursor to many dangerous and potentially fatal diseases.
"I don't give a fuck what you know or don't know, but I'm gonna torture you anyway, regardless. Not to get information. It's so amusing for me to torture a cop. All you can do is pray for a quick death, which you aint gonna get."
Gangsters, violence, murder and corruption !!!!! If these are some of the things that you're into, then this is your kind of movie. Be ready to watch it more than once to be sure to get all the movie has to offer because it jumps from subject to subject and can be a little confusing.
With the time and at certain size of the plaque in the artery that it became more narrowed that increase the possibility of pain or discomfort, have you ever felt pain while exercise? This is also a cause of the atherosclerosis.
Atherosclerosis is defined as the formation of fatty plaques in the walls of arteries, restricting blood flow to deep tissues (Martini).
Atherosclerosis or arteriosclerosis is the main cause of coronary artery disease. Atherosclerosis or arteriosclerosis is the gradual buildup of cholesterol inside the artery. When this happens in a coronary artery, the space inside the artery where blood flows becomes narrow, making it difficult for blood to flow freely. The result is less blood flow through the artery and less blood supply to heart tissue. Symptoms can include chest pain, shortness of breath, and fatigue that can be mild, or abrupt and severe, such as a heart attack. –http://www.heartpoint.com
Atherosclerosis, the underlying causes of coronary heart disease can affect any artery in the body. Coronary heart disease is essentially the build up of plaque which sticks to the walls of the coronary arteries. The arteries in atherosclerosis is narrowed due to the excessive build up of cholesterol-rich lipids known as plaque around the artery wall (Insull, 2009). Once the plaques around the walls of the arteries become narrow, the flow of blood will be constricted, reducing the amount of blood and oxygen that are able to reach the heart. Hence the heart becomes increasingly hypoxic, as a consequence the contraction become inefficient, thus poses serious cardiovascular complications which could result in heart attack (A&P p.687)(Insull, 2009). Despite the
The article defines Self-Efficacy (SE) as a person belief in his/her ability to perform a particular behavior successfully. Researcher suggests mothers’ self-efficacy (MSE) can be directly linked to the increase or decline of a child language development (Albarran & Reich, 2013). This theory is explored by observing 2 factors, perceived barriers and parents’ knowledge and exposure to reading material concerning child development. There are 3 barrier discussed in these article’s. Parent centered barrier looks at the particular situation that would prevent or in decrease a parent from interacting with a child i.e. being too tire, having to work, or just being too busy. Child –centered barriers focus on the child lack of interest in any particular task i.e. being fussy, tired or just not being interested. The last barrier is structural; this particular barrier looks at environment factor that should possible effect (MSE) i.e. nosy back ground, and little exposure to reading material (Lin, Reich, Kataoka, & Farkas, 2015).
Many might suggest that favoritism is not a threating hazard in the work environment. However, if favoritism is allowed other actions will develop, like a chain of reactions such as; Accusations, Tension and eventually Division of Employees as suggested by an article called “What are the dangers of fraternization in the workplace?” by Shelly Frost from Small Business Chron (2016). Once again this is where having a No-Fraternization Policy intact would become very valuable. Supervisors or Managers in romantic relationships with a subordinate, may give special treatment, whether it’s intentional or not. The subordinate might be allowed to get away with more due to the fact that they are in relations with the supervisor. Employees may start accusations on favoritism against the supervisor and subordinate and could result in a written complaint against the company. When there is talk of favoritism and accusations going around in the work place it causes tension between co-workers. Division among co-workers will be the next phase and employees will start choosing sides which will cause productivity to
It is not a new thought that today’s young Americans are facing issues, problems and difficult decisions that past generations never had to question. In a world of technology, media, and a rough economy, many young adults in America are influenced by a tidal wave of opinions and life choices without much relevant advice from older generations. The Generation Y, or Millennial, group are coming of age in a confusing and mixed-message society. One of these messages that bombard young Americans is the choice of premarital cohabitation. Premarital cohabitation, or living together without being married (Jose, O’Leary & Moyer, 2010), has increased significantly in the past couple of decades and is now a “natural” life choice before taking the plunge into marriage. Kennedy and Bumpass (2008) state that, “The increase in cohabitation is well documented, such that nearly two thirds of newlyweds have cohabited prior to their first marriage”(as cited in Harvey, 2011, p. 10), this is a striking contrast compared with statistics of our grandparents, or even parents, generations. It is such an increasing social behavior that people in society consider cohabitation “necessary” before entering into marriage. Even more, young Americans who choose not to cohabitate, for many different reasons, are looked upon as being “old-fashioned”, “naive”, or “unintelligent”. This pressure for young people to cohabitate before marriage is a serious “modern-day” challenge; especially when given research that states, “... most empirical studies find that couples who cohabited prior to marriage experience significantly higher odds of marital dissolution than their counterparts who did not cohabit before marriage”, stated by Jose (2010) and colleagues (as c...
The tragedy Seven Guitars by August Wilson captures the audience with a captivating tragedy with plenty of comedy. With the numerous themes referencing slavery, racism, and death this play keeps the audience intrigued. The amazing scenery by Fred Uebele was created without flaw and developed the play smoothly as well with the music in the play was executed at great times and held the play together through transitions into scenes. Additionally, the acting in the play was above any expectations I had. Characters were performed flawlessly and the actors really complimented their characters. I would recommend this play for anyone whether it was his or her first or last.
Bill Beattie once said, "The aim of education should be to teach us how to think rather than what to think – rather to improve our minds, so as to enable us to think for ourselves, than to load the memory with thoughts of other men." All too often, however, individual thoughts are crushed by the powerful weight of conformity. In the film Dead Poets Society, conformity exercises it’s influence and the results prove disastrous for some. For others, the effect of conformity compels them towards individual strength and the discovery of one’s true self.
I spent a lot of time considering what movie I would watch to write this essay. I listed off the movies that I would like to watch again, and then I decided on The Notebook. I didn’t really think I could write about adolescence or children, so I thought that, maybe, I could write about the elderly. The love story that The Notebook tells is truly amazing. I love watching this movie, although I cry every time I watch it. The Notebook is about an elderly man that tells the story of his life with the one he loves the most, his wife. He is telling the story to his wife, who has Alzheimer’s Disease, which is a degenerative disease that affects a person’s memory. She has no recollection of him or their life together, or even her own children. She wrote the story of their love herself, so that when he read the story to her, she would come back to him. There are three things that I would like to discuss about this movie. First, I would like to discuss their stage of life and the theory that I believe describes their stage of life the best. Second, I would like to discuss Alzheimer’s DIsease and its affect on the main character who has it and her family. Third, I would like to discuss how at the end of the movie, they died together. I know it is a movie, but I do know that it is known that elderly people who have been together for a long time, usually die not to far apart from one another.
First off, is the element of forgiveness. In a book of mistrust, poverty, and hate…forgiveness thrives in the world of Les Miserables. The first example of this was at the very beginning, when Jean Valjean stayed with the bishop. Valjean stole his silver…and ran off. He ends up being caught by police, but when the police questioned the bishop, he claimed to have given the silver to Valjean. Jean was confused…and the bishop claimed that with the silver, he had purchased the convicts soul, and had given it to God, and from that day forward, Valjean must be a good man. Another example of forgiveness goes two ways. Javert, in his relentless pursuit of Valjean, is captured by revolutionaries. In reward for saving the lives of a few of these revolutionaries, Valjean asks for, and gets, permission to take Javert outside, and kill him. Once outside, a small monologue occurs…and Valjean releases Javert, and lets him go free. Valjean just wanted to be left alone in peace, and hoped this act of kindness would change Javert, and make him realize that Valjean was no longer the man he was. The second way…is that in the end, after Javert finally captures Valjean, he lets him go. Since Javert had broken the law… that he loved so dearly, he kills himself shortly thereafter, by jumping into a river.
Atherosclerosis is a cardiovascular disease characterized by the deposition of materials such as lipids, cholesterol, and proteins such as fibrins in the arteries, as seen in Figure 1 below. This leads to increased resistance to blood flow and causes the stress on the heart to increase.
