During the Renaissance there were many famous artists and thinkers. Two of them were Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. Their art inspired many famous artists to come and is still admired. These two artists shared many similarities and differences like their background, style, and specialty. Leonardo da Vinci was born to a wealthy legal notary father and a peasant mother. He lived with his mother for his first five years, then he went to live with his father and his grandpa. His father had married a 16 year old girl that sadly died young and it was not until Leonardo was 16 that his father remarried. He received an informal education in Latin, geometry, and math. In 1466, he was a model from a master artist named Verrocchio. When Leonardo was 20, his father set up a workshop for him and he was officially qualified as a master. Leonardo had his own unique style that many others followed. He believed that in order to paint objects or people, an artist had to understand their structure and their body.
