Leisure Time of Chinese and Other International Students
Introduction:
The topic of our research is about 'Do Chinese students spent less
leisure time than other international students'. The purpose of our
research is to see what are the changes of the Chinese Students'
Leisure life before and after their arrival in Stirling? We are aiming
at finding out the reasons behind these changes also. That means there
are two parts of our research: the first part is what are the changes?
And the second part is the reasons for these changes.
Methodology:
The methods that used in our research are questionnaire and interview.
The reason that we chose to use questionnaire is quantitative data are
the primary data that we needed. And it allows us to collect the raw
data for the further use in the interview section. We printed out 100
copies of our questionnaires initially. And at the end we received 83
back, coincidently, 43 are from Chinese Students, 43 are from other
international Students.
The second method of this research is interview. After we collected
and analyzed the raw data from the questionnaires, we then carried out
the interview section for our research. This is the way that allows us
to collect the more in-depth data. And through the interview section,
qualitative data is collected. We had interview 12 international
students, 6 are Chinese students and 6 international students with
other nationalities. In the interview section, we can investigate the
reasons behind the changes of the student's leisure life.
Finding and Discussion:
In this chart (3), we can see that "the change of time spending on the
leisure life for the Chinese Students". The chart shows the difference
of the Chinese Students' participation in leisure activities from home
country and Stirling. And we can see that the most obvious changes of
the Chinese Student's leisure activities are the habit of television
watching and newspaper reading. There is a remarkable decrease in the
percentage of television watching after their arrival in Stirling.
My own personal philosophy of leisure has been shaped by past and present activities I do for leisure and why I do them. To me, leisure is the sense of being free from external stressors that I face in my life such as school or work. The positive outcomes from partaking in leisure are generally overlooked and often underestimated. Leisure affects our emotions, our physical and mental health, and aids in the creation of relationships. In my own personal life, I have done and still participate in leisure as a way to sooth myself or unwind from the stress of school or work. The release of pent up emotions and energy for individuals helps their relationships with others and their overall health as well. When stress is released, an individual is
If was given the opportunity to be hired as a TR specialist the most suitable work sight that is the best fit for me would be a Long Term Care centre. With clients that are of the age of retirement are not able to take of themselves or suffered a major disability that warrants them to be under the care of a health care professional, the most logical way for TR specialist to provide effective therapy in the field of TR is through the uses of the Leisure Ability Model. This model is based on the concept of internal locus of control, in intrinsic motivation, personal causality, freedom of choice and flow through the use of three service components: treatment, leisure education and recreation participation. When using this model it is imperative

In staging reality, setting is critical for both Chad and Undine’s performances. In expatriate fiction, Europe is associated with more freedom than Puritanical America and is used as a medium for performers to present and explore both themselves and cultural and social differences between their home in America and abroad. In Going Abroad, William Stowe suggests that Europe is a space in which higher class and non-essential laborers can “prepare for or advance their careers” (Stowe 7). As a continent with a vast collection of cultural goods, Europe conflicts with the barren American landscape. Acquiring a “Europeanized” persona helps Undine and Chad to gain experience that they employ at home, and cultural accumulation provides an advantage
I believe for me there are four main areas that consume my time; school, work, social life and sport. The level of time and effort given to one or the other changed depending on what was happening in my life at the

There are two purposes for the scholar-official to travel. On one hand, to fulfill their civil service obligations, they had to travel to different places for government services, even crossed China for several times in their lives. On the other hand, Wu also observed that, since the Ming time, more and more scholar-officials took the advantage of traveling for the reason of government service and initiated their own casual style of traveling during their leisure time. Nevertheless, in the late-Ming period, their leisure traveling sometimes could be quite extravagant. Besides indispensable transport, such as palanquins and boats, and other necessities, the elite class sometimes carried as many consumer goods as they wanted to use on the road, which was all delivered by their servants. There is an abundance of cultures and lessons that teens can learn about as they travel the world. Many teenagers, however do not realize or take advantage of travel opportunities provided for them and the influence travel can have on their lives. There are many programs out there that give all teens the chance to travel and experience the world firsthand regardless of a family’s income. These travels will influence the growing mind by helping them to understand other cultures without the distant feeling that these places do not concern them. Although it may seem scary to some parents to let their child travel to far off places, teens need the exposure to broaden their knowledge and horizons. More teenagers should travel because traveling abroad not only teaches them more about other cultures, but more about themselves, who they are and who they want to become.

The time study equipment available for use today has progressed with the technological advances made in the last fifty years. However, the stopwatch remains the most widely recognized symbol in the field of time studies. Thomas proclaims that “The work measurement symbol remains the stopwatch, but today’s sophisticated tools are a far cry from that. Data can be gathered with a host of automated data collection equipment” (Thomas, 2006, p. 36). While it is true that automated data collection tools are readily available today, they are more efficiently used in other time measurement forms like work standards and predetermined times. The stopwatch is still the most widely used time measurement tool that is used on the production floor when conducting actual time studies. The stop watches of today will generally come in two different types, the traditional mechanical decimal minute watch (See Figure 1.1) and the more user friendly electronic stopwatch (See Figure 1.2). The decimal minute watch typically will have a dial divided into 100 equal divisions with each representing 0.01 minutes. The watch hand will make one complete revolution every minute. The smaller dial on the typical decimal minute watch will be divided into 30 equal spaces, each of these divisions will represent one minute, and every complete rotation of the smaller dial will represent 30 minutes. The watch is controlled by the ...
