Leisure Time of Chinese and Other International Students

Introduction:

The topic of our research is about 'Do Chinese students spent less

leisure time than other international students'. The purpose of our

research is to see what are the changes of the Chinese Students'

Leisure life before and after their arrival in Stirling? We are aiming

at finding out the reasons behind these changes also. That means there

are two parts of our research: the first part is what are the changes?

And the second part is the reasons for these changes.

Methodology:

The methods that used in our research are questionnaire and interview.

The reason that we chose to use questionnaire is quantitative data are

the primary data that we needed. And it allows us to collect the raw

data for the further use in the interview section. We printed out 100

copies of our questionnaires initially. And at the end we received 83

back, coincidently, 43 are from Chinese Students, 43 are from other

international Students.

The second method of this research is interview. After we collected

and analyzed the raw data from the questionnaires, we then carried out

the interview section for our research. This is the way that allows us

to collect the more in-depth data. And through the interview section,

qualitative data is collected. We had interview 12 international

students, 6 are Chinese students and 6 international students with

other nationalities. In the interview section, we can investigate the

reasons behind the changes of the student's leisure life.

Finding and Discussion:

In this chart (3), we can see that "the change of time spending on the

leisure life for the Chinese Students". The chart shows the difference

of the Chinese Students' participation in leisure activities from home

country and Stirling. And we can see that the most obvious changes of

the Chinese Student's leisure activities are the habit of television

watching and newspaper reading. There is a remarkable decrease in the
