The idea of changing the legal driving age has been around for several years. Although no concrete decisions have been made, several people have proposed that the legal driving age should be moved from 16 years of age, to 18. With several statistics concerning the percentages of teens who have been in a motor vehicle accident, many parents are quick to jump on board with changing the legal driving age. Yet there are two sides to every story, and teenagers have been able to make several strong arguments that support the idea of keeping the legal driving age the same. After analyzing both sides of the argument, it is clear to see that the logical answer would be to keep the legal driving age at 16 years old, instead of changing it to 18. The majority of 16 and 17 year old high school students hold a valid driver 's license. As well as several 15 year olds and 14 year olds. If the legal driving age was changed to 18 years old, then the age for a Leaners Permit would most likely change from 15 years old to 17 years old. As well as the legal age for a Farmer 's Permit being changed from 14 to 16. Therefore, what would the state do with all licenses issued to people that hold some form of driving permit but do not fulfill the new requirements. There would be a lot of controversy over any decisions made on either side of this question. If the state voted to withdraw all licenses that had been issued to those who do not meet the new requirements, all those with the licenses would be very upset. Similarly, if they were allowed to keep their licenses, but the state didn 't allow other teenagers to obtain these licenses who had yet to take the required tests for fill out the paperwork, they would be upset.
