1. The show that I selected was Law & Order:SVU. Two specific characters that play in the show are Olivia Benson and Amanda Rollins. Olivia Benson is the initiator/contributor, providing the best ways or ideas for the groups to help solve the case. She is always providing her team new leads so the team can follow up and get additional evidences or leads. She can help lead her team in the right direction of what case they are trying to solve. Her role affects the group in big ways, such as getting to the team a start of ideas and leads to getting the job or task done. She helps guides the groups to look into certain direction. Another character is Amanda Rollins that plays the role of evaluator/critic. She is given the leads or evidences by …show more content…

Emotion expresser is someone who expresses the feelings of an issue to the group. A group observer is summarizing the group's progress. The last role is tension reliever, they often relieve all stress in the group by giving breaks or humoring them. In the episode, the following roles that were presented are harmonizer, compromiser, group observer, and encourager. Olivia would act as most of the roles as she guide the group or she would encourage her team about what they would come up. Another would be when she summarize the group'r progress and make sure no one is fighting their way to the goal but resolves the issue to come together. This self-centered role detract from its goal by wanting all the attention and to focus on them besides of the goal. It's hard to think about the goal when there is someone who wants to focus everything one them. An example is the goal is to solve the case given to you, but there is someone who is having a problem during the case. They want everyone to focus on their problem besides the case. Help them solve their problem besides solving the case. 4. I analyzed Olivia as the groups leader by using a process function approach. She would make decisions for the goal, dictate the agendas and tasks but allows the group to influence the decisions of things. Olivia would be considered an democratic leader. Communication is very good between the group, no one is stepping on each other and allowing everyone to input what they like to say to get to the goal. Olivia is not controlling everything but listening to the group with their ideas or
