1. The type of economy India has is a mixed economy which is a combination of a market and command economy in which heavy industry was under the control of the government and had five year plans to economic goals. The issues it produces is that their lack of oil and natural gas slowed their growth and made businesses ineffective. This forced some industries to be privatized. 2. The four difficulties in Latin America that hindered its economic development were agricultural reform, debt crisis, free market reforms, and population explosion. The agricultural reform to grow more crops to feed the people was an issue of overdependence. They tried to expand the crops they grew, but they still relied on the same crops. The Great Leap forward was a period in which a policy of increasing agriculture and industry was encouraged. Communes were created to make farming more productive and people had quotas to make. It was not a success because the quality of the goods were poor and the output declined as well as having bad weather causing a famine. It compares to Stalin’s Five Year Plans in that they both used collectivization in attempt to increase agricultural output and setting quotas for the workers to meet. Both failed for the same reason of a lack of quality in the goods produced. 6. The purpose of the Cultural Revolution was an attempt to renew the loyalty to communism and equality. Mao Zedong shut down schools and universities. The groups called the Red Guards were formed to attack professors, government officials, and factory managers. It was not a success because it caused a stagnation in the economy and forced China to close itself off from the rest of the world. There was a threat of a civil war and people lived in fear. 7. Two ways in which Deng Xiaoping’s economic methods differed from Mao Zedong’s were that Deng got rid of the communes that Mao set up and allowed the leasing of land to farmers to increase agricultural output, and opening China up to new technology and foreign enterprises in which they set up zones in the government to deal …show more content…

The borders drawn by colonial powers eventually contributed to civil war and genocide in Africa by being made without considering the traditional tribal and ethnic groups that were established already. Some ethnic groups were separated into different nations and others were united into one. Nigeria is an example as to how this can led to civil war. Hausa dominated the government and then Ibo declared independence which led to a war. In Rwanda, a genocide occurred in which the Hutus attacked the Tutsis. The Islamic Fundamentalism is the movement for reform that wanted to apply Islamic principles to the current problems of their nation, in which westernization was opposed. It affected Libya by leading to al-Qaddafi establishing a government on these principles and he supported revolutionary organizations worldwide. However, he renounced terrorism in 1999. Afghanistan was affected by a Soviet invasion whose goal was to strengthen the Afghan Communist government which led to a civil war after they withdrew.
