6. Lansoprazole medications are drug for proton pump inhibitor. By inhibiting the amount of proton pump, it will decrease the amount of acid produced in the stomach and will increase in pH. Lansoprazole is also to treat and prevent stomach and intestinal ulcers, esophagitis, which is damaged esophagus due to stomach acid and other conditions that involve in excessive stomach acid. Lansoprazole, however, is not treatment for immediate heartburn. Taking lansoprazole can also increase in risk of bone fracture such in the areas of hip or wrist. These are common side effects for proton pump inhibitors.
