Land Use Survey
Aim
--I am doing this survey to see how the land is used in Rotherham Town
centre.
--I will see which variety and types of buildings etc shops, offices,
make up the main part of Rotherham and spot vacant shops and land use
patterns of shops, offices etc.
Hypothesis
· I think that there will be a small variety of different types of
shops because I think Rotherham Town centre is very small.
· I think that all the big brand high street chain shops e.g. W H
Smiths, will be located in the pedestrianised areas and this will be
in a small area of the Town centre because there are only a few
pedestrianised areas in town.
· I think that because Rotherham Town centre is unpopular there will
be many vacant shops and low order convenience stores.
Method
We carried out our transects, in groups for safety, in the most
popular shopping areas and the routes into the Town centre as this is
where the buildings etc that people use are found. These places were
Wellgate, Effingham Street, College Street, Doncaster Gate and High
Street.
1) We started our transects at 9:00 am for the reason that the Town
centre will be less crowded.
2) The first place we went to draw our transects was Wellgate, as it
is nearest to school, at the bottom of Mansfield Road.
3) The first transect went from Wellgate along College Street to
Effingham Street to the library as this is a popular area.
4) The second transect went from Ship Hill along High Street to
Doncaster Gate Hospital.
5) To complete the transects I used a key and noted down letters which
symbolised the different types of services available.
6) To neaten my transects I used a colour code and used squared paper.
Then I also transferred my transect onto a large A3 map of Rotherham
Town.
Interpretation of Transect
From my results I can clearly see that my hypothesizes are correct.

After the Civil War, the United States was torn on how to provide services to freed slaves, or freedmen. Eventually the Freedmen's Bureau emerged from the confusion. This bureau gave food, shelter, and education to freedmen, but also did one more very important service. The Freedmen's Bureau helped to get the emancipated slaves on their feet by providing land to each of them. "Forty acres and a mule"(Abbot, 52) was the amount of land and property that each family or single man in South Carolina was to get. To freedmen, freedom was only achieved when they were in control of some type of property. Unfortunately, three problem arose; the government needed to attain a sufficient amount of land to provide the expected forty acres, distribute that land properly, and later fight the original owners for that land.
From the early 1820’s the Traditional Owners were diposessed of the lands as the area was utilised for timber getting and brick-making.
Specialty retailers cater to a narrow or niche audience – either by location, type of customer or product mix. On a national level, specialty retailing is dominated by national chains, such as office supply store Staples or electronics outlet Best Buy.
From the years, 1987 to 1991, the West Philadelphia Landscape project was part of collective landscape plan which was established as a “greening” project for the West Philadelphia community. A large team of teachers and students from the University of Philadelphia developed a database that used digital maps of the area neighborhoods as well as designed proposals that would allow the project to reuse vacant land in the Mill Creek area. They used the maps they created to design and strategically place organic gardens all around the Mill Creek neighborhood. These gardens helped replace the vacant landscapes with lush green and vibrants flowers. Others used the lots as a means to create community organic gardens, which allowed residents of the community to come and pick fresh produce free of charge.
U.S. Public Lands are a vital part of our nation and what is stands for, but you rarely hear anything about of these lands or the creation of their units anywhere other than a bleak mention in a high school American history class where they briefly mention their conception or if you seek it out in college. The federal government owns just about 30% of all public lands in the United States, (Bureau of Land Management Lecture), which equates to almost 650 million acres, of land of all different types and terrains. The U.S. Public Lands system is divided into five major units, all owned by the federal government, all with different goals and all ran by different legislation but all still dealing with the same things: nature and the environment. When first learning about the existence of these five major units, I asked myself, why aren’t these all under the same branches, just as many other sectors of life in America. Or if anything why isn’t it up to the individual states to decide how they want their land looked after? I quickly realized was that they weren’t all created as one because each different unit has it’s owns mission’s, legislations to abide by and it’s own practices and that by owning so much land federally, the United States is able to hold more control over the individual states.

Where North Macomb Medical Associates is located, it is not very diverse. There is currently only one medical office located within the vicinity of Richmond so many of the residents seek treatment from them. Richmond is a small community that resembles a city in the middle of the country. When looking at marketing, it is important to make sure that it is appropriate for the demographics of the area. It is also important to research the area prior to opening up a medical office. If the demographics of the area show that the area is primarily Spanish speaking, it would be pertinent to make sure that there are several bilingual speaking physicians and staff.
...ties, eminently in Europe, did not at all followed the concentric circles model. For instance, in most pre-industrial European cities, the centre was much more consequential than the periphery, eminently in terms of convivial status. The Burgess concentric model is consequently partially inverted.

IFAD (2014) contends that PLUP is a “process that results in a land-use plan or several land-use plans for a given goal, objective or set of objectives” (p. 1). It is an interactive and integrated process to realize high level of participation in land use planning projects and most importantly, to provide local community greater control over the process of development. Its role is to bring actors together for the purpose of developing a common vision and to agree upon a way forward – as part of this, tenure security could be improved. In particular, it provides an opportunity for marginalized groups to take part in project development process. Moreover, PLUP provides information and direction to the concerned community and to decision makers

The fashion industry has changed over a period of time due to the growth of boundaries. This is attributed to the varying dynamics of the industry; declining mass production, altered structural aspects in the supply chain, need for more affordable cost and quality. This shows that fashion retailers are able to acquire a competitive power in the market through making sure through which they get their products to the market for the consumers (McAfee, Dessain, & Sjoman, 2007). Consumers are hence able to get product easy and of high quality. Fast fashion has been able to meet the needs of consumers while trying to acquire major merchandize turnover to retailers than local rivals. The Zara case study reported sales $8.15 billion to its competitors Hennes & Mauritz 0f $7.87 billion (Dutta, 2002). This was the consumer’s one stop shop due to the quality products offered both globally and locally.
