One's life can change in a split second. It all started senior night at Lamar High School's biggest basketball game against their school's rival Paul W. Bryant. The school's star player Thomas and his best friend Dedrick were dominating the court. Meanwhile on the sidelines, head cheerleader Symone and best friend Melissa were cheering the boys on. It's the fourth quarter, Lamar High was down by two points with only six seconds on the clock. Dedrick inbounds the ball to Thomas. Thomas shakes rival star player and ex-boyfriend of Symone, Jamal, and takes the winning shot from half court. The ball floats through the air, three, two, one, buzz, swoosh! He rushes into the room Jamal just left and drops to his knees, as tears stream down his face. Melissa follows Dedrick and screams at the sight before her. There lying on the floor were Thomas and Symone, with matching bullet holes embedded in their heads. Melissa and Dedrick were so shocked with grief that they didn’t notice the police rushing into the house. "Freeze!" The police shout pointing their guns to their heads. They cuff Melissa and Dedrick, reading them their rights as they put them in separate cars. The police interrogate them, asking them what all happened tonight. They both kept quiet, not knowing what to tell the officers. They both were drinking underage and knew that they could be put in jail for it. After an hour of interrogation their parents arrived at the station. The police informs both sets of parents of the situation, and lets them know that both Melissa and Dedrick will be spending the night in the jail. As the officers escorted them to their cells, they told them that if neither one confessed by tomorrow, they both will be charged for murder in the first
