One's life can change in a split second. It all started senior night at Lamar High School's biggest basketball game against their school's rival Paul W. Bryant. The school's star player Thomas and his best friend Dedrick were dominating the court. Meanwhile on the sidelines, head cheerleader Symone and best friend Melissa were cheering the boys on. It's the fourth quarter, Lamar High was down by two points with only six seconds on the clock. Dedrick inbounds the ball to Thomas. Thomas shakes rival star player and ex-boyfriend of Symone, Jamal, and takes the winning shot from half court. The ball floats through the air, three, two, one, buzz, swoosh! Lamar High wins the game, the crowd runs to the court in excitement. Symone rushes to Thomas jumping in his arm, …show more content…
He rushes into the room Jamal just left and drops to his knees, as tears stream down his face. Melissa follows Dedrick and screams at the sight before her. There lying on the floor were Thomas and Symone, with matching bullet holes embedded in their heads. Melissa and Dedrick were so shocked with grief that they didn’t notice the police rushing into the house. "Freeze!" The police shout pointing their guns to their heads. They cuff Melissa and Dedrick, reading them their rights as they put them in separate cars. The police interrogate them, asking them what all happened tonight. They both kept quiet, not knowing what to tell the officers. They both were drinking underage and knew that they could be put in jail for it. After an hour of interrogation their parents arrived at the station. The police informs both sets of parents of the situation, and lets them know that both Melissa and Dedrick will be spending the night in the jail. As the officers escorted them to their cells, they told them that if neither one confessed by tomorrow, they both will be charged for murder in the first
Rashim told Colin and Andrew that they needed to help him stand out this game. Colin said, “Rashim, we want you to go to the NBA as much you want to. We got you and we're gonna make you the MVP of this game.” Rashim knew that his friends would always be by his side to help him. The timeout was over and it was almost half-time. LaSalle was down by 8 and knew they needed to come back to stay in this game. Wissahickon missed a shot, and Andrew got the rebound and passed it to Rashim and he made a three pointer! With 4 seconds Colin got a steal and threw a bullet pass to Rashim, and he got the shot off with one second left, and he made it! The crowd was filled with excitement and cheering for Rashim. “I couldn't have gotten those points without your guys’ help,” he shouted excitedly. But the game wasn't over, and LaSalle was still
A hit was put out on Taylor and Zavala by leaders of the Mexican drug cartel because they were becoming a nuisance. This hit was carried out by the same Latino gang members who had previously done a drive-by shooting of a rival gang. The officers were enticed towards their imminent deaths with a car chase which was set up by the Latino gang members. This chase led them towards an apartment complex which was rigged with many gang members and artillery to ensure that neither Taylor nor Zavala would survive. The two were ambushed but decided that gunning their way out was their best option. When the officers made it to an alley they were met by another Latino gang member who fired at Taylor and Zavala, hitting Taylor once in the chest before being shot and killed by Zavala. Zavala went to aid Taylor who appeared to be quickly dying and called out for help. Before police back up arrived the original Latino gang members found Zavala in the...

Officers checked the house twice and both times a note was on the front door of the house claiming the family was away. The police returned a third day and forced their way in. The police found the bodies of Randy and Karen Ringquist frozen in the freezer Jeremy had purchased to hide the smell of decay. Mark told the paper; “Karen and her husband didn’t get along. He was abusive to her. And then their son moved in and he was also abusive. He’s a 300 pound kid.” He continued with; “Her life was miserable and I tried to tell her to get out. I said ‘You’ve got to get out of there,’ but she said she had no money and no place to go. There’s no relatives close. I’m probably her closest
It 's the day before my last high school varsity basketball game as a senior… Wow four years went by this fast who would have imagined this day would have came. All day I was thinking about the season ending. This game meant everything to me, it wasn 't any ordinary game. It 's a section game! Win or go home.. With it being my last high school game I wanted to close the chapter knowing I gave it my all. Practice was probably the most intense it 's ever been for me. Emotions were flaring and we were all on the grind.
Detective Jones had so much sympathy for the girl’s brother, Aaron. He raised Kennedy by himself, since his mother was never around. Their mother and father were both drug addicts and sadly died two years ago. Aaron and Kennedy were devastated, but Aaron knew it would happen sooner or later. “Is there a Detective Jones here?” asked a young barista. Jones's head shot up and
My role was to watch the teens, transport them from location to location and make sure they were having a good time. Before going to the camp I was a bit nervous of how the weekend was going to go. I was unsure of the capabilities of the teens. The camp started Friday afternoon but I did not start my hours until Saturday afternoon. I was first to go to the Lighthouse and get a Lighthouse vehicle. Then from there I met the students at the Marshall High School gym. When I arrived the staff, and the teens and their families were setting up a game called goal ball. Goal ball is a game where there is a ball that has bells in it, that is rolled across the gym floor into the opponents goal. The players have to then locate the ball by listening for it, and grabbing it making sure it doesn’t go into their goal. Then they roll it back towards the other team’s goal. I have never seen this game played, but the teens were having a fun time with it. Also, some of the parents and siblings played the game with the teens, who have a vision loss. Those who did not have a vision impairment received blinding goggles, so everyone had equal site abilities. I was surprise that some of the students also wore the goggles because they could still see a great deal. During the game, I supervised making sure no one was getting hurt and retrieving the
We have two gyms that we practice in. The “New Gym” has a distinctive smell. I think it smells like sweat and hard work. We always have worse practices in the new gym. I like practicing in our main gym. The good part about the new gym is that there are no stairs in the new gym. In the main gym, we must run stair laps, they are awful. Instead of running stairs in the new gym we must run down and backs.
I watched from the bench as one of my teammates chucked up a deep three pointer. Clunk! The ball bounced hard off the back of the rim and fell directly into the large hands of a Central Catholic player; a perfect way to sum up our night. My teammates in the game halfheartedly jogged back down the floor to attempt to get a stop against the steamrolling Central Catholic offense. The now large Central Catholic student section awaiting the varsity game began to cheer noisily as their team sprinted down the floor. With time winding down in the fourth quarter, a Central Catholic player came hard off of a screen, finding an open three-point shot from the corner; a spot he was far too used to seeing in the game. The ball soared through the air, landing in the hoop with a swish. The crowd immediately erupted with cheer. I looked up at the scoreboard and my heart sunk at the sight of the home team’s score: 100. The buzzer soon followed, signalling the end of the game and the two teams marched off the floor, one grinning with pride and the other slouched over in defeat. The announcer spoke enthusiastically over the roaring crowd,
Everyone was on the edge of their seat to see the two rivaling teams finish the game. With the score being us 28 and them being 30, it could be anyone's grand slam. It was our ball and everyone was at the end of the court waiting. The point guard was at the top of the three-point line and passed the ball to me. As the seconds ticked away I panicked to shoot and passed the ball back to the point. Suddenly, the person guarding me swatted the ball out of bounds and turned it back over to us. I could have taken that shot but I believed I could not make that three-point shot. Especially when I was standing four extra feet away from the line. The coach called a timeout. We ran to the sideline and the coach demanded for the point guard to pass me the ball again unless I wasn’t open. He told me that if I was open, I should take the shot. We got back on the court and the point guard did as she was told. She passed me the ball and as I turned to shoot, I noticed that no one was there to guard me. It seemed as though everything was in slow motion. All my teammates and coach yelled for me to shoot the ball. The crowd was cheering with four seconds left on the clock. I prepared to shoot and fired the ball towards the basket. It sailed through the air as everyone watched in awe. It made it to the basket and all everyone heard was the swish of the basketball going through the net. Right as that happened, the final buzzer went
Can you imagine playing the game of basketball without a three point line? Basketball has constantly changed throughout history and continues to change today. The National Basketball Association has risen in popularity and is now one of America’s more popular sports. Because basketball continues to be a popular sport, a fan should learn about the origin of the NBA, how the game evolved from the late 1940s to the early 2000s, and how the players today impact the way it is played.
Basketball a sport that is played throughout the whole world. When playing this sport all you need is a ball and basket. Though the basket does have to be a certain height kids play it in their classroom or outside. What I mean by this is that kids and even adults in the office treat a trash can as a basket and whatever their trash is as a ball. I got interested in this sport when I was in middle school in eighth grade moving on to high school. I was never interested in basketball until I played it with a group of kids who today are still my friends.
... to trap the player with our hardcore defense. The Lady Horn player freaks out and throws it clear across the court. That is where one of her teammates was and as the Lady Roos hurriedly run down the court she shoots a jump shot. The ball up in the air for what seems like forever rolls and rolls around the rim and goes through the orange rim. The Lady Horns and their fans jump for joy as they have just won the championship game. The Lady Roos, walking back to the bench with tears in their eyes, have to find the courage to go shake their hands and tell them good job. The Lady Roos are devastated and hang their heads low with total silence as they get dressed in the locker room. To their amazement, the awesome Kress fans were all standing out there still cheering them on and giving them great remarks. Than they realized the experience they just had was an amazing one.
Down two with six seconds to go fatigue had taken it tolls on the players. With little energy left; over time was not an option. I knew I had to go for the win. I walk on the floor confident of my ability that was until the whistle blew quickly turning my confident to butterflies. As I fought to get open I quickly saw the ball coming my way. As I rose for a jump shot time itself began to stay still. An in flesh everything became silent. As I watch the ball leave my hand I envisioned greatness; sure the ball was on its way in I started to celebrate that was until I hear the announcer say my teammate tip in miss shot to win us the game. Mix with emotion I celebrate with my teammate. “Ok guys, we have 24 hours until tip off. Get some rest because this is going to be the biggest game of your life. Let’s bring this championship back to Barton College. Go Bulldogs and Goodnight!” Why few players stay in the lobby to hang out I took it talk upon to work on my game and reflect on the semifinal game that just took place. At basketball games you will notice how there are all sorts of fans attending the game.
