Lake Martin
Welcome to Lake Martin. Lake Martin is where many people come to spend time with their families and to relax. This lake is known for the Martin Dam and former/current coach's own land or a house on the lake. On the lake you can do many fun things such as spend time on the water and where to eat lunch and dinner after a long day out on the water.
The Martin Dam was built in 1926 and is located in Elmore and Tallapoosa counties. Another place you can visit that is close to Lake Martin is Auburn. Auburn is about 45 minutes to an hour away fromt the lake. From my knowledge is that Tommy Tuberville has a home on the lake, Coach Bruce Pearl (Auburn’s current basketball coach) has a lake house on the lake, Bear Bryant owned a house
The lake itself plays a major role throughout the story, as it mirrors the characters almost exactly. For example, the lake is described as being “fetid and murky, the mud banks glittering with broken glass and strewn with beer cans” (125). The characters are also described as being “greasy” or “dangerous” several times, which ties the lake and the characters together through their similarities. The narrator explains, “We were bad. At night we went up to Greasy Lake” (124). This demonstrates the importance that the surroundings in which the main characters’ choose to be in is extremely important to the image that they reflect. Pickle Lake, Ontario is located in the Canadian Shield landform region. This landform region is the largest region in all of Canada and was formed over 4 billion years ago. This is where most of the metallic minerals are found and there are also igneous and metamorphic rocks found here. It was formed by many different effects, one way was when the molten rock cooled it formed igneous rock creating the Shield. Another one was minerals separated into layers according to their density and then the Shield rock cooled. Then the main one is glaciation and erosion which is/was the cause of most landform creation. The Dry Creek Station was created in the spring of 1860 by crew members. This station was the last one built on the Pony Express on Bolivar Roberts division. This station was built for the purpose of the Pony Express which delivered mail. William H. Russell, Alexander Majors, and William B. Waddell created the Pony Express because mail delivery by boat would take a substantial amount of time so they chose that delivering mail by horse would take a cut on time. During the building process they ran into some issues with Indians, and one day when a “heavy mail” carrier named William H. Streeper was headed westward and ran into two prospectors that asked if they could join him in the journey. They neared Dry Creek Station and saw that there were no Indians in sight, but when they got to the station they found the station keeper scalped and mutilated, this man’s name was Ralph Rosier. What had actually happened is that Indians came into the station and shot two men. One of the men shot was named Applegate, who was already suffering from being shot, one of the Indians gave him a bullet and they let him decide his fate. He chose to shoot himself in the head rather than try and shoot the Indian in front of him.
It was a long journey, but the promise od succes drove them forward. English settlers have finally arrived in Chesapeake bay. They came to establish Britians first permanent settlement, in hopes of finding riches and establishing trade. They thought the new land had so much promise, but fortune they did not. The Natives were hostile, disease killed many, and the droughtmade getting food harder to do. It would be hartimes for Jamestown indeed.

The Everglades National Park is a wetland with grass, marshes, and hardwood hammocks on the southern part of Florida. The U.S. “Army Corps of Engineers” and many other groups are trying to find a way to fix the water supply in the Everglades. Not only does it have an effect on humans it also has an effect on animals.

The Glen Canyon is a better place because of the dam, because now there is way more power for a lot of people. Cause of the dam, more people are able to visit because it is easier to get there. Yes it kind of destroyed part of Glen Canyon but they didn’t just do it for fun. They did it for a reason and that reason was more power.
