• A Democratic-Republican opposes a strong central government with most power assigned to the states, Alexander Hamilton's economic policies, advocates a liberal agrarian democracy, a foreign policy favoring the French Revolution while also appealing to poor townsfolk.
Can you imagine losing one’s rights just for being one’s self? The Gay Rights movement is slowly gaining the rights back for gay people. This movement started in the 1960’s and it is still going on today. The main leader of the Gay Rights movement is Harvey Milk; the main followers are the people of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community, also known as the LGBT community. Milk’s main purpose to do the speech was to explain how similar gay people are to everyone else and to get the rights back that were taken away from them. There are even a lot of people who are not a part of the LGBT community that are also followers of Harvey Milk and support gay rights. The main purpose for this movement is to give gay people the same rights as straight people. The literary piece, “The Hope Speech”, by Harvey Milk contains the themes: A gay person was elected, everyone needs hope, and that gay people have come a long way. The speech somewhat explains how many gay people are stereotyped. The gay rights movement is manifested in “The Hope Speech” by Harvey Milk.
LGBT rights have changed in many ways throughout the years. The idea of being a part of the LGBT community has been around for a long time. People who are LGBT go through many rough patches during life. Many of their rights have been taken away, because many people don’t agree with it. They face abuse, discrimination, threats, and many other things. The LGBT community should be treated with respect like any other person, but that’s not what they always get.
...l federal issue: abortion. Democrats support abortion and “freedom from government interference in our private lives” ((Newell, Prindle, Riddlesperger 117). I definitely agree with this statement. Our government is our government that’s it. Our government should not be allowed to make our own personal decisions- especially when it is a decision concerning one’s own body.
As a Democrat, I am support our current welfare system. I believe in helping the needy and increasing minimum wage. The Republicans policies do not benefit the poor. They think by giving the poor we are making an entitlement state. The republicans believe that increasing business opportunity for people to prosperous in small business. The republicans believe in strong business and productive careers. These Strong and productive careers will allow poor people to improve their life.
Energy and environmental issues are also another topic that both parties disagree on. Democrats support drilling for fossil fuels which is better for the environment. Republicans believe in expanded drilling which creates more energy at a cheaper cost. Democrats are advocates for using tax money to research solutions for alternative energy and Republicans just want to let the industry itself figure out the most practical solutions
...ty issues, also favor a laissez-faire business model. This means they want the government staying out of business and therefore they would hate knowing the government could take away such a large, moneymaking, job-providing industry. And as for Democrats, they typically are seen as more laissez-faire in morality issues. They typically feel it is up to each person to decide what they feel is moral and therefore would never pass legislation banning something on the basis of the act being immoral.
Economics is the study of currency and how it is made and distributed through our economy. Taxation is one of those main issues in this category. The Democrats and Republicans both consider taxation a major issue but both have different ways they are trying to deal with the problem. The Democrats believe that extending tax cuts to the middle class families of America that make less than 250,000$ a year while raising taxes on the extremely wealthy and huge corporations to help parents pay for college (“Democrats Unveil”). While the Republican Party says it would “try to eliminate taxes on interest, dividends and capital gains altogether for lower and middle-income taxpayers also would work to repeal the estate tax and the alternative minimum tax” (“Democrats Unveil”). They both want to change the tax policy to try to help pay off our debt and or help Americans to live an easier life. Another Key issue in this category is Medicare. Both parties believe that the Medicare policy should be changed. "Democrats adamantly oppose any efforts to privatize or voucherize Medicare" when the Republicans pledge...
There is a lot of differences between federalist and democratic republicans. The federalist and democratic republicans have a lot of different ideas and plans. But I chose one of those differences that I am going to compare and contrast. The difference I chose is loose vs strict interpretation.
The Democratic standpoint on abortion is strongly in favor of Roe V. Wade and it includes a woman being given the opportunity and right to abort her pregnancy whether or not she can afford it. They support movements to decrease the number of unwanted or unintentional pregnancies. The democratic party is hoping to overall reduce the number of abortions, but they don’t want it to happen at the loss of the mother’s right to choose. They also support sexual education programs that will help couples understand birth control options and help them obtain them.
The biggest difference between the two parties is that republicanism has more of a public and social quality as opposed to liberalism, which has more of an individual and private quality. Republicanism focuses more on the rights
Additionally, both parties try to provide a balance between the opposition of the other party by exposing the weakness of the opposite party and by trying their hardest to reduce conflict and tension in the social world by accommodating and encouraging voters to accept compromises in policy. However, even though both parties are centrist, there are some distinct ideological differences between the two parties. Democrats tend to be less likely to spend money on defense, believe in using funds to let students attend private schools by not using vouchers or public funds, focus more on social-welfare programs, and want to use more government money on public education and health programs of the government. Democrats also tend to want to give tax relief to lower and middle class, are against private ownership of assault weapons, and believe in broader regulations of firearm ownership. However, Republicans tend to focus more of their effort to spending on defense, believe in vouchers for private schools and government aid to
