The argument of supporting or rejecting homosexuality has been arguing for several years. Homosexuality is a sexual and romantic attraction and also a sexual behavior between people with same sex or gender. Some may say that homosexuality is unusual and immoral, but I think homosexuality is acceptable. The main reasons of supporting homosexuality are purchasing power, equality and harmless.
Gay and lesbian community has their own purchasing power which known as pink money. They provide a significant opportunity to the retailers and manufacturers that are able to fulfill the needs of them. Upwards of 90% of homosexuals support businesses which target pink money, including nightclubs and restaurants. The U.S. business and technology news website Business Insider did a survey of more than 1000 lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender (LGBT) respondents in 2012. According to the result of survey, gay consumers reported annual household incomes around $61,500, significantly higher than the national median of just over $50,000. Gays were more likely to have higher educations, to ...
For years homosexuality in the United States of America has been looked down upon by citizens, religions, and even politicians. The homosexual culture, or the LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender), has been demoralized and stuck out and lashed against by the Heterosexual community time and time again. To better understand the LGBT community we must first grasp the concept of Sexual Orientation.
People’s different values and morals play a role in defining what they believe. Many people find homosexuality to be not natural, and it goes against many people’s views. However, there is also a lot of people who argue in favor of homosexuality and find nothing about it unnatural. For those people who do think it is not natural they normally use the argument that this kind of sex can not reproduce, therefore it is not right because the point of sex is to reproduce. Many times the Bible will also be used to refer to verses that condemn acts of homosexual sex. People who favor the morality of homosexuality find many things wrong with these arguments. To say that the only purpose of sex is to reproduce would be wrong because there are many examples of heterosexual couples who have sex without the intention of conception. Medical problems, protected sex, and just sex for fun are all reasons why
LGBTQ is an initialism for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexuality, Transsexuality, and Queer. “Queer” is a nomenclature for unlisted orientations and identities, such as Pansexuality, Asexuality, Non-binary gender, and so on. Through the continued uses of employee discrimination, bisexual/non-binary erasure, prejudices from religious people, and general marginalization has created an atrocious environment for a lot of LGBTQ individuals.
Over time, outsiders opposed to the LGBT ingroup have created cruel assumptions about the sexual lives/health of gay men based on minorities. These assumptions are constantly in circulation: gay men can’t be monogamous, carry AIDS and can’t help themselves from hitting on straight men (Engle, 2017). These microaggressions continue to harm gay men. Another assumption surrounding gay men that is translated into a microaggression is the idea that gay men sacrifice their masculinity for their sexual orientation. There is a general expectation around the behavioural traits expected in gay men: they’re weak, delicate, stylish, and associate themselves more so with women (Engle, 2017).
One argument that opponents use is that homosexual sex is “unnatural.” If the definition of unnatural means something unusual, homosexual sex could be considered unnatural, however, this is completely untrue. Some people claim homosexuality is immoral because animals do not practice homosexuality. The fact is, there are certain animals that do practice homosexuality, and therefore, that argument is invalid.
Although most lesbian and gay adults acknowledge their sexual orientation to themselves during adolescence, most have not “came out” by the time they enter their college or university (D’Augelli, 1991 pg. 247). Although several studies involving college students in their samples (e.g., Savin-Williams, 1990 pg. 247) no reliable estimate of the number of college students is available.

Approximately 300 million people live in the United States, and of the 300 million people, nine million people have identified themselves as homosexual. This number could be even higher since not every individual has identified themselves as homosexual. At least nine million people are subject to prejudice, hatred, or discrimination because of stereotypes society has placed on them. Stereotyping has led to discrimination, hatred, and prejudice of homosexuals. This extreme and irrational aversion toward homosexuality or homosexuals is called homophobia and is a major social problem.
Note: This paper has a very long Annotated Bibliography. In recent years, same-sex relationships have become more encompassing in US society. State legislation is changing such as accepting gay marriages, enforcing anti-discrimination laws, and legal gay adoptions; the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community is becoming public. Gay-headed families, like heterosexuals, are diverse and varying in different forms.
Most people have grown up in a society where being a homosexual is not okay. Although LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) people are being more accepted, they are still thought as ‘wrong’ to a lot of people and places. A big argument is that being gay is “unnatural” however, it is found that homosexuality is practiced in over 1,500 animal species such as giraffes, lions, and several species of apes and monkeys. We believe the hate against homosexuality should decrease, and the homosexual rights should increase.
“All men are created equal, No matter how hard you try, you can never erase those words,” Harvey Milk. A homosexual, as defined by the dictionary, is someone of, relating to, or characterized by a tendency to direct sexual desire toward another of the same sex. Homosexuality is ethical, and I will provide rational arguments for, and irrational arguments against the topic. A few objections are as follows: It is forbidden in the Bible and frowned upon by God; It is unnatural; Men and women are needed to reproduce; There are no known examples in nature; and the most common argument that concerns homosexuality is whether it is a choice or human biology.
In the United States, there are approximately 581,300 same sex couples, according to the American community survey of 2012. Approximately 253,576 are male to male and 300,890 are female to female households. (Lofquist & Ellis, 2011) It is clear that there is diversity of sexual taste.versity of sexual preference. Age wise is also not a very big difference since the sexual preference of a person could take place from child to elderly. Nevertheless the highest portion of same sex couples living in together would be between the ages of 45 and 54 which it being close to 30% followed by 25% of the ages 35 to 44. Approximately 88% of the LGBTQ population are from white origin followed by a capital deviation, which would be Hispanic with 10% and African American with 8%. The lowest would be of Asian origin coming in with about 3-5%. (American Community Survey, 2012) With such high numbers it has been understood that people being LBGTQ are coming out more. Se...
