The Knicks and the Pacers have had a rivalry for a little more than two decades now . Being rivals since the Reggie Miller ara (the former point guard for the Indiana Pacers), they have many great games, battles and highlights. Being in the same conference, they play each other quite often and meet up in the playoffs frequently, being very well known teams and great competitors, make a good matchup to see. Belonging to different divisions ,the Knicks in the Atlantic and the Pacers in the Central division, they both reside in the Eastern conference. In 1967 the Pacers were founded by a group of six inventors ,among them Richard Tinkham, John DeVoe, Chuck DeVoe, Chuck Barnes, and Bob Collins. Although the team did not join the NBA until 1967. Located out of Indianapolis, Indiana the well renounced team takes the court on game day in the Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Team colors include navy gold silver and white. Owned by Herb Simon and General manager Larry Bird this NBA team is coached by Frank Vogel. 17 year-old Rashim Lancit was the standard senior at LaSalle High School. His best friends were Andrew and Colin. They played together for their high school basketball team. However, Rashim loved the game of basketball more than his friends and dreamed to go to the NBA. He thought there was no way that he would make it there. However, that all changed one Friday night at the LaSalle basketball game.
Though Saperstein was born in London, England in 1902, he spent his childhood in Chicago and always having a fascination for basketball. After becoming the coach of the Giles Post semi-pro team, the team turned professional in 1926 and assumed the name the "Savoy Big Five". Under Saperstein's guidance, the team played in the famous Chicago's Savoy Ballroom, but in late 1926 three of the players, Inman Jackson, Lester Johnson, and Walter Wright got into a dispute with then manager Dick Hudson, and quit. But Saperstein had big plans; he and the three disgruntled players banded together with two new players and formed the Harlem Globetrotters. On January 7, 1927 Saperstein's Globetrotters played their first game in Hinckley Illinois and won handily, then the Globetrotters set off on a cross country tour in which they won 101 of 117 games, often by large margins. In the early years many of the people who attended the Globetrotters games had never interacted with people of African heritage. So Saperstein was in a sense integrating the entire country by spreading a black influence throughout the country. With these actions he began to lay the groundwork for the infusion of black players into mainstream basketball.

Since its creation in 1893, the sport of basketball has been one of the most popular sports in the United States. One wouldn’t have to search long to find a basketball court and a pickup game in most American cities. Many people around the world look up to the stars of the National Basketball Association as role models.
The team became an icon and passion for New Yorkers. In 1964, the television network, CBS, bought 80% of the team for over 11 million dollars. The Yankees then decided they wanted to remodel the Yankee Stadium, so they began playing at Shea Stadium while a two-year project to remodel was underway. In 1976 the new renovated Yankee Stadium opened with a Yankees win over the Twins. The very next season they would return as World Series champions. The 80s were filled with manager changes and some of the first era of Yankees players sadly passing away. In 1996 the championship yet again returned to the Yankees where they would go on to win three out of four years. In 2008 Yankee Stadium came to an end, with a brand new, state-of-the-art stadium to be built and open in 2009 was underway. When the league was created, the game was only made up of seventeen teams, both from small and large cities(History.com Staff NBA is born). The first NBA finals was played in 1947, and the first All-Star game was in 1951(NBA.com NBA Top Moments). However, through the 1950s fan support was lacking. By 1954, the NBA was down to only eight teams(History.com Staff NBA is born). This same year a person by the name of Leo Ferris invented the twenty-four second shot clock. This helped speed up the pace of play, which allowed the game to become faster and more exciting. Written and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, a black woman, and starring many other black women, Love & Basketball is not just a warm coming-of-age story, but also a soothing relief for gender relations among black men and women. This movie redefines and defies the societal norms placed on women, while also addressing many stigmas that are placed on males and their “maleness”.

During the mid to late 1980s NBA basketball was simply treading water. As a result of the lack of a marketable superstar, the NBA was losing popularity to the National Football League and Major League Baseball. Following Jordan’s emergence, the NBA’s attendance rose dramatically and it’s worldwide popularity skyrocketed. Michael Jordan returned basketball to its past popularity in the United States and revolutionized the way the world viewed the game of basketball. The National Basketball Associations, Golden State Warriors are approaching history. They are the number 1 ranked team in the league and the quest for winning a record 73 games is well within reach. The keys they play by have helped them be the success they are. The consistent 3 point shooting threat has left many shaking their heads in disbelief. Always making the extra pass has allowed them to strive on and off the ball. Most importantly teamwork both on offense and defense has led them to be ranked among the league’s best in both. As long as the Golden State Warriors keep shooting the three point shot the way they have been, along with great passing and teamwork they will pass the record held by the 1995-1996 Michael Jordan led Chicago bulls team.

Down two with six seconds to go fatigue had taken it tolls on the players. With little energy left; over time was not an option. I knew I had to go for the win. I walk on the floor confident of my ability that was until the whistle blew quickly turning my confident to butterflies. As I fought to get open I quickly saw the ball coming my way. As I rose for a jump shot time itself began to stay still. An in flesh everything became silent. As I watch the ball leave my hand I envisioned greatness; sure the ball was on its way in I started to celebrate that was until I hear the announcer say my teammate tip in miss shot to win us the game. Mix with emotion I celebrate with my teammate. “Ok guys, we have 24 hours until tip off. Get some rest because this is going to be the biggest game of your life. Let’s bring this championship back to Barton College. Go Bulldogs and Goodnight!” Why few players stay in the lobby to hang out I took it talk upon to work on my game and reflect on the semifinal game that just took place. At basketball games you will notice how there are all sorts of fans attending the game.
