Kneeling during the national anthem Should be against the law. In 2017 Colin Kaepernick started kneeling during the National Anthem during football games on national t.v. because it was a form of protesting. He is protesting because he thinks his country oppresses black people and people of color. He took a knee because it is a harmless way to protest. The public took offense to this because it was rude and very disrespectful to our armed forces. Kneeling during the national anthem should be against the law because it angers the armed forces and civilians , it is an ineffective and counterproductive way to promote the cause, and shows division in our country. The first reason that this should be against the law is refusing to stand for the national anthem shows disrespect for the flag and members of the armed forces. President Trump stated he said fans should leave the stadium if they see players kneeling for the anthem, and he said that he wishes owners would fire players who protested the anthem.(Tsuji, 2017) He stated that not standing for the national anthem can get in the way of the message. This point is very important because he was president and he knows what to do in these situations. Some people think that not standing is ok. Counterposition Some people feel that My third reason is not standing for the national anthem angers many people and shows division in our country. The fans felt disrespected and now they don't want to go to their games or even want to watch the games on t.v. They feel this way because you are supposed to stand and not kneel during the national anthem. You stand to respect if you don't it's very disrespectful to the country's armed forces and most Civilians
