In “the kite runner” a picture of Afghanistan’s people’s lives are brought to reality by Khaled Hosseini, the author. Within the book Hosseini uses two main characters -Hassan and Amir- to show how this country is divided by two religious views, Pashtuns and Hazaras, and wealth. Hassan, who is a poor Hazara has always suffered in life however, Amir who is a Pashtun is wealthy and will never know the struggle in life, which Hassan knows all too well. Amir and Hassan grew up, played, ate, and did everything together, yet they were not friends. This was because Hassan was Amir’s servant, and a Hazara. The only one who actually knew this was Amir, because he didn’t think of Hassan as more than a Hazara. Page 34 proves this when Hassan points out
