A hero is somebody who commits an act of remarkably bravery or who has shown an admirable quality such as great courage or strength. Martin Luther King Jr. was a baptist minister and a social activist who played a key role in the African American civil rights movement from 1954 to 1968. Martin Luther King Jr is a hero in which he fought for peace and equality throughout the United States. As a result, Martin Luther King Jr. is remembered as noble, peaceful and brave because his sharp mindset and vision that pushed for the in equality of the racial minorities throughout the United States.

On december 1, 1955, Rosa parks refused to give up her seat to a white passenger on a mongomery bus and was arrested. Activists coordinated a bus boycott that would last for 381 days, that would economically strain the transit system and downtown business owners. They chose King to be the official spokesman and protest leader. However, in 1963 King worked with a number of civil rights and religious groups to organize the march on washington, for jobs and freedom. This significant protest was On August 28, 1963, over 250,000 people, including thousands of whites, gathered at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. where Martin Luther King Jr., the leader of the Civil Rights movement gave his famous "I have a dream" speech. A peaceful political rally designed to shed light on the injustice African Americans. Continued protests, boycotts and marches gradually convinced the American populace to seriously consider major changes to the way blacks were treated in America. After many years of excellence Martin luther king jr. was assassinated on Thursday, April 4, 1968. He was fatally shot at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 39. King was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:05 p.m. that evening. The assassination of King was the second attempt on his life, he was stabbed a decade ago before his death. James Earl Ray was convicted of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr.. Had he been found guilty by jury trial, He was sentenced to 99 years in prison. In 1998, Ray died in prison of complications due to chronic hepatitis C infection.
