5. You encounter a lawn with several bluegrass (Kentucky, rough, annual) species present. What are the distinguishing features that would enable you to correctly identify each of these species? Based on the environmental conditions to which they are each best adapted, what environmental modifications might you make to specifically favor the Kentucky bluegrass? And, based on their respective cultural requirements, what cultural operations might you perform to specifically favor the Kentucky bluegrass? There are a few things to look for when distinguishing between Kentucky, rough, and annual blue grass. The ligules of Kentucky blue grass are very short. Only .2 to .6 mm long and truncate. The ligules of rough blue grass are much longer, 2-6 …show more content…
Kentucky blue grass has a V shaped or flat blade. The sides are parallel and the blade is smooth on both surfaces. There are 2 light lines astride the central vein and the tip is boat shaped. Rough blue grass has a flat blade 1-4 mm wide. The blade slightly tapers to a boat shaped tip. Both sides are smooth with a glossy abaxial surface. Light lines are not prominent and there is an onion skin appearance to the sheath base. Annual blue grass blades can be flat or V shaped and 2-3 mm wide. Parrellel sided or slightly tapering to a boat shaped tip and smooth on both sides. The blades are light green at both ends of the growing season and in winter. There are multiple light lines parallel to veins. It should be easy to distinguish between rough and annual blue grass by the lack of prominent light lines and glossy abaxial surface of rough blue grass and the multiple light lines and light green appearance of annual blue grass. The inflorescence also varies between the three. Kentucky blue grass has an open pyramid shaped panicle. Rough blue grass has an open panicle. Annual blue grass has a small open panicle and seeds are present through most of the season and are most abundant during early to
The Chaparral biome is most common in latitudes of 35 degrees North and is seen most often in Southern California. Chaparral plants have special adaptations that help them deal with the unique climate. In addition there are specific characters of a Coastal Sage Scrub and Chaparral community that would help in their identification. Both of these topics, secondary succession, endangered plant species, and the importance of habitat preservation will be discussed.
There are two main similarities that can be heard while listening to “Walking Blues” and “Blue Moon of Kentucky.” The first is that they are both in 12 bar blues form. One characteristic of 12 bar blues is repeating the first line. Both songs incorporate this feature. In “Walking Blues” the first few lines are:

Fuller, P.J. Schofield, M.E. Neilson, A.J. Benson, and J. Li.). The grass carp is a species that is easily recognized while on the water or near the water. Silver on the sides that darkens towards the top of the fish that runs the entire length of the fish. “The dorsal fin origin is anterior to the pelvic fin origin and it has a short caudal peduncle” (Nico, L.G., P.L. Fuller, P.J. Schofield, M.E. Neilson, A.J. Benson, and J. Li.). The grass carp is typically the smallest in size in comparison to the first three carps. Weighing in at average of fifty pounds. In the past the grass carp species has been introduced to United States waters for the control of biological vegetation. “This species was first imported to the United States in 1963 to aquaculture facilities in Auburn, Alabama, and Stuttgart, Arkansas. The first release of this species into open waters took place at Stuttgart, Arkansas, when fish escaped the Fish Farming Experimental. However, many of the early stockings in Arkansas were in lakes or reservoirs open to stream systems, and by the early 1970s there were many reports of Grass Carp captured in the Missouri and Mississippi rivers.” (Nico, L.G., P.L. Fuller, P.J. Schofield, M.E. Neilson, A.J. Benson, and J. Li). The life expectancy for the grass carp is five to nine years of age. The grass carp is an aquatic vegetarian,

Hello, I am Destiny Stevenson and I am writing this letter to you about why or why not Pat Boone should be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because I am taking a class about the history of rock and roll. I believe he should not be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because he had taken most of his hits from multiple R&B artists.
Property is an owned object, whether that is land or a house or a computer. We own property, it’s our right to protect and decide what we do with that property. We worked hard to own property and we will fight to protect it from both foreign and domestic threats. When someone takes our property, we call it theft, but when the government does it, it’s called Eminent Domain.
In the 1920s there was a growing interest in country music, and bluegrass was one of the genres in hillbilly music that caught the attention all over the country. Known for the unique guitar sound, religious and gentle ballads, and mountain singing practices, the Carter Family is considered to be one of the great representatives of the bluegrass music in the Appalachian region. Loved by the audience all over the country, they established a “standard” sound that people would expect from bluegrass music. Taking a deeper look into the genre, almost all of the bluegrass groups are formed by solely white people. Why there were no traces of other races in the region being involved in the music? As the listener could imagine on the good old days and pretty scenery depicted in the bluegrass ballads, very little details on the lives of the people living in the present were heard from the songs. Bluegrass music is not a genre that provides listeners a genuine image of the musical and social landscape of the Appalachian region, but the commercialized music genre that is created by the white Appalachian residents for the whites in the whole United State America using newly-developed broadcast and commercial recording technology.
