There is one thing that seems to be a pattern in our history and that is because nobody is happy with the current conditions of practically everything. Whether it is how we want our government to run or what we want for a meal that day. Everybody has ideas on how they want everything to go even though they might not always know that they want it that way until somebody else decides to speak up. It is complicated to try and get an unbiased view of history but everybody is willing to try.
The first primary source document I found interesting was in chapter twenty-two entitled ‘What is the Third Estate?” It essentially discusses the word privilege. The author, Emmanuel Joseph- Sieyés, writes about how not every member of society follows the same …show more content…

One thing that had stuck out was when he was discussing how addicted all of the travelers had become to tobacco. Eventually, the addiction had reached an appalling high which caused the sultan to increasingly become sterner with his rules. Soldiers who got caught smoking were eventually hung for it. The sultan at the time said, “Men desire what is forbidden.” Chelebi also discusses how he knows nothing about this drug and whether or not it is truly addictive. They got killed for disobeying a law that stated soldiers could not smoke as long as they remained soldiers. The document enables you to see how intense the times were. The document also proves how distressing it was social to live during this time. One can only imagine how rough it was to be alive during the time of the sultans but by being able to read a paper by somebody who was alive is extraordinary. It not only shows how stressful the times were but it is fascinating that we are able to use this information to study those
