How can a donor make a tax-deductible donation to an association that does not have tax-exempt status?
Unfortunately, because of tax laws, the Foundation is not able to allow chapters and associations to use of Kappa's 501(c)(3) (donor tax deductibility). Because of the way the tax code is written, it would put Kappa's nonprofit status at risk. That is the case even if they are sending proceeds to the Foundation. However, the Foundation is always able to help associations and chapters by providing tax-deductibility to individual donors who make their gifts directly to the Foundation. The association gets credit for each of the gifts and the donors receive the tax deduction. This generally helps associations raise more money and their overall cumulative giving to the Foundation. There is one minor exception. An alumnae association can raise funds for the Foundation through their dues if the association writes a check to the Foundation and includes a list of every member who donated when they paid their dues and how much they donated. In that case, the gift would be recorded in the donor’s record at Kappa Kappa Gamma Headquarters and the association would also be credited for it.

At a young age I knew as an African American woman through activism, educational autonomy, and community service, I can thrive through the wake of extreme poverty and turmoil faced by the people of my neighborhood of East New York. My interest in Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc., would be based solely on their ethical standards, history, and values they are founded upon. The ladies of this organization exude exemplary character who excel in sisterhood, respect, honesty, accountability, and integrity. Throughout my life I always encouraged myself to have these ideal characteristics without knowing that one day I would be pursuing membership in a prestigious organization, whom upheld the key principles “greater service, greater progress. The first

I am seeking membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated to be a part of a sisterhood that leads and serves. I would love to join a sisterhood that serves the community, promotes academic achievement and builds self-esteem in students of all walks of life from primary to adulthood. In addition, I wish to expand my public service through educational development. As an educator, serving children and families through toy drives and youth mentorships would afford me countless opportunities to give back beyond the walls of my classroom, dance stage, and church. With my dedication, compassion, and creativity, I know I will work diligently to produce a strong impact on the sorority’s current programs and aid to create new
Being identified as a nonprofit, doesn’t necessarily mean it will be a charitable organization. Though the term has been applied to most nonprofit organizations, the fact is most nonprofits is structured using the economic model. The economic model is based on the traditional model of management designed to deal with the complexity of managing an organization (Bradshaw & Hayday, 2007, p. 4). This model acquires funding from multiple sources such as; individuals, government grants, corporations, and foundations. Though an nonprofit organizations may be identified by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as tax-exempt, it may use the same economic model and framework as a for-profit organization. According to Brainard & Siplon, (2004), the nonprofit economic model often mimics that of the private sector by using organized professionals to help determine the goals and vision of the organization (p. 439). It is widely believed that most nonprofits use the economic model along with an aggressive...
If an association chooses treatment under IRC § 528 it allocates its income and expenses between exempt function activities and non-exempt function activities (Checkpoint, 500.2). As the name implies, exempt function income is not taxable. Non-exempt function income, net of related expenses, is taxable. The first $50,000 of taxable income is subject to a 30% tax rate (Checkpoint, 500.2). If an association files under IRC § 277 it allocates its income and expenses between membership and non-membership activities (Checkpoint, 500.2). Non-membership income is not taxable. Membership income, net of related expenses, is taxed at regular corporate rates. Currently the first $50,000 of taxable income is subject to a 15% tax rate (Hoffman et al, 2014).
Therefore, I was exposed to many different things surrounding this wonderful fraternity. However, I still never knew what it was I just always admired the bond that my father shared with the guys he called his fraternity brother. It was not until my older cousin that I looked up to cross into the Kappa brotherhood when I really started to understand somewhat. When I got to college, is when I started to take an interest in joining a fraternity. That's pretty much all everyone talked about was joining a fraternity or sorority. Many of my friends took an interest and some of the other fraternity. Mainly because how active they were around campus and how live their parties were. But for me it's was much more than that. I had the privilege of growing up around Kappa’s by attending many events with my father such as tailgates, Kappa Balls, as well as many different types of meetings. So I had the honor of seeing more than what my friends saw. And what I saw was a friendship unlike any other, built out of loyalty, respect and love. And true enough, there are many other fraternity with similar characteristic. However, to me it nothing like Kappa. Just seeing my father love for Kappa is overwhelming it’s nothing he won't do for his brothers. When we are out eating and he see younger brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He pays for their meals and although that may not seem like a lot to some people. I’m like wow he doesn’t even know them but that is was just

Nonprofits are dealing with many risks that seemed especially significant. For example, Nonprofits might encounter fiscal risk caused by the difficulty of finding enough resources and funds to subsidize their mission and objectives. Throughout history, fiscal distress has been a way of life for the nonprofit sector as many nonprofits are competing to access the needed resources and raising money to fund their activities. Nonprofits also might encounter the risk of losing market shares due to the uneven opportunity in accessing resources required to establish new facilities or new programs and services in response to the rapid surges in demand. Accordingly, nonprofits are required to maintain effectiveness

According the IRS, five basic classifications of nonprofit organizations exist under Section 501(c)(3)of the Internal Revenue Code. Classifications include charitable, religious, educational, scientific and literary. A nonprofit organization may fall under one or more classifications. For example, a Christian charity providing food to homeless citizens could fall under charitable and religious classifications. Nonprofits must apply for federal tax-exemption as a 501(c)(3) by completing Form 1023. 501(c)(3)nonprofits can offer tax-exempt donations to individual contributors.
Kappa Alpha Psi Inc. has played a large part in my life in a short amount of time; this organization has granted me the opportunity to attend college through a scholarship. The scholarship that I was granted was through the alumni chapter in Fayetteville; it required letters of recommendations, a transcript, an application, and an essay on what I believe “Achievement in every field of human endeavor” means. Once I received the call that was telling me to meet the representative to receive a letter stating whether I received the scholarship. When I opened the letter, two tickets fell out for the Kappa Scholarship ball, and when I read the letter, it stated that I have been picked to receive the scholarship from Kappa Alpha Psi Inc. The weekend of the scholarship ball, my mother planned a graduation trip for a couple of friends of mine and I to go Myrtle Beach. So the day of the scholarship ball, I drove from Myrtle Beach to Fayetteville to attend the scholarship ball; once I arrived at the ball, I was greeted by many men of Kappa Alpha Psi Inc. When I sat down at the table that they reserved for me and the three other scholarship awardees, I was approached by many men of the fraternity. That night was very spectacular and eventful; the men who had presented me scholarship seemed down to earth, sociable guys. They treated me with so much respect, and talked to me about how I see my future and told me what I could do to be a successful African-American in today’s society. These men set an example of accomplishment and in the short time that we had together, they instilled in me that I should never be content with where I am and I can always do better as long as I have the mind set of an achiever. Without this scholarship, I ...

Trump used some clear-cut examples of non-for profit organizations that are not real organizations, even though they are listed as 501(c) (4) tax-exempt. “Veterans for Strong America isn’t considered a real organization and they are soliciting donors for tax exempt status.” (Hasan. 2016)

Grant writing is usually required to secure money in nonprofit organizations for an organizing campaign. However, grants from national and local governments are not guaranteed with the competition with other nonprofit organizations for funding and possible government spending budget cuts. A possible solution would be fundraising. This would limit the dependency on grant funders and foundations.
