Just a Touch of Magic

Have you ever wondered what is magic? Have you believed if it really even existed? “Can it be real?” you ask yourself. Well maybe it was just endowed in one person at a time or even a bunch of people. To be honest we will probably never know. But there was a boy who became a man who really had a touch of magic on his side. His name was Walt Disney and his story begins in the little town of Marceline.
Elias and Flora Disney, parents of Walt, picked up all his belongings in Chicago and moved to Marceline. (Greene, 7) His father bought a 45-arce farm, in order to protect his kids from the sin-filled streets of Chicago. Walt was born fourth of five children on December 5, 1901. (Greene, 7) Walt loved the farm life, mainly because he almost never had to do any work on the farm. (Greene, 7) The farm is where he saw his family really endowed in teamwork. (Greene, 7) Being that it was a family farm, Walt’s brothers Raymond and Herbert worked for free but eventually left. (Greene, 10-12) When they left, Elias’s dream for a farm slowly faded, and he sold the farm for $5,175. (Greene, 10-12) Walt was excited about the move, because this meant a new adventure with lots of excitement. (Greene, 10-12)
In the summer of 1911 the Disney family moved to Kansas City. Elias took the money from the farm and invested in a paper route, where Walt began his first job. (Greene, 13) When Walt started school, he was held back a grade and was the second dumbest kid in his class. (Greene, 13) His mother never let him feel sorry for himself. (Greene, 13) Flora Disney always kept the family close together even when it was at its worst. (Greene, 13) Walt inherited superiority and eagerness from his dad but from his mother the ability to laugh and joke around...

...g to live a long life, but his life was slowly dimming. (Greene, 163) Roy wanted to retire but Walt always “talked him out of it.” (Greene, 163) Walt never saw New Years in the year of 1967. (Greene, 163) The death of Walt Disney had an impact on so many people in so many ways. (Greene, 170) The impact of Walt’s death was so great that people talked about him as if he were still alive. (Greene, 173) People who never knew Walt talked as if they knew who he was. (Greene, 173) There is an urban legend about Disney’s death, but all are false. (Krasniewicz, 17)
So if anyone had a touch of magic on their side it truly was Walt Disney. His life impacted the lives of many and his death impacted many more. Walt even impacted my life, he taught me to never give up. He is a legend that will never die because his legacy lives through us. The magical man named Walt Disney.
