The Speech Of Death Who has a better speech and what makes that particular speech better? Brutus and Mark Antony two citizens of rome that oppose each other's doings. Brutus stating why he killed his loving friend Julius Caesar, Antony stating why the people of rome should turn on Brutus and the conspirators. Both men used three very important things in their speech to persuade the people of rome. First who used logos or logical statements the best out of the two. Next which of the two men used ethos or appeal to ethics the best. Last one of the biggest witch of the two used pathos or appeal to emotion the most or the best. Out of the two speeches Brutus used logos the best and the most. “As Caesar loved me I weep for him: as he was fortunate, I rejoice it: as he was valiant I honor him: but as he was ambitious, i sew him” [III,ii,24-27]. Brutus used this logical fact to show that he did love his friend Caesar but he knew he was to ambitious to rule rome. Brutus also used logos by saying “His glory not extenuated, wherein he was worthy nor his offenses enforced for which he suffered death” [III,ii,39-41]. That is also a logical statement that brutus used in his speech to entice the people of rome that he had done right by killing Caesar. Brutus was a crowd favorite and was very loved and admired by everyone. “Believe me for mine honor, and have respect for mine honor, that you may believe” [III,ii,14-16]. Brutus says this ethical statement to remind the crowd that he is the honorable lovable Brutus and to remember him as that not the Man who killed Caesar. Brutus refers to the people of rome's wisdom in his speech like “Censure me in your wisdom, and awake your senses, that you may the better judge.” [III,ii,16-17].
