Johnny Manziel has been a star since entering the NCAA in 2012, shining on some of college football’s biggest stages while representing the Texas A&M Aggies. He has been referred to and regarded as one of the best players and quarterbacks to ever play college football. Now that his collegiate career is over and he is preparing for the NFL draft, he is facing criticism and doubt from NFL analysts saying he will be a bust and his talents wont transition to the next level. Many NFL scouts and analysts have compared him to and said he will be the next Tim Tebow. Considering Johnny Manziels quarter back mechanics, unique quickness, and play making ability I would like to think and argue otherwise.
One of Johnny Manziels successful college football predecessors is Tim Tebow. Tim Tebow was also a collegiate football star in the SEC just like Manziel. Although thought to be alike and compared to each other because of their scrambling ability from the pocket, they are absolutely different players. Tim Tebow was the first sophomore to ever win the Heisman Trophy, college football’s most prestigious and honorable award. He broke an SEC all-purpose yards record which was later broken by Johnny Manziel. He also went on to win two BCS National Championships, something Manziel never did. Tim Tebow also has great physical attributes being 6 foot 3 inches and weighing 240 pounds. A big question on Johnny Manziel is his size and if he will withstand the hits he will endure in the NFL because of his want to scramble. Johnny Manziel is not the prototypical height of a successful NFL quarterback standing only 5 feet 11 inches and weighing around 200 pounds. Once Tebows college career ended and he opted to enter the NFL draft, NFL analysts started to ...

The National Football League is a league of men with no room for decent players or just good players. The best football players in the world play in the NFL, and even better players than the best land a starting job as a quarterback for a NFL team. This is because the most is required and expected from the quarterback position. NFL teams, head coaches, and general managers do not want only a great quarter back, they want a great person that will be an outstanding citizen in and outside the locker room, which they can depend on. I feel Johnny Manziel is the perfect draft pick to take on this role. Drafting Johnny Manziel would be a NFL team’s best decision ever made within their organization. Johnny is a NFL hopeful with a chip on his shoulder that I believe will become the face of a NFL team’s franchise.
For as long as I can remember I have been a Notre Dame football fan. My father is to credit for getting me into it. He brought us to South Bend a couple of time for some games and I was just amazed by the campus and the history of the football program, so it was no surprise that I chose this particular book. Shake Down The Thunder: The Creation of Notre Dame Football was written by a man named Murray Sperber who was a sports writer interested on why fans were so into college football. Because of his interest Sperber decided to go around the country to certain college campuses to do research on this. He started with the University of Notre Dame because he was aware of the history and the passion of their football program, he was also aware of the appreciation Notre Dame had from their fans. This book deals with they history of Notre Dame football including the nation championships, the players, the coaches, and the program itself. It explains exactly what happened thought out its history, the reality behind the myths so to speak. Notre Dame was very kind to Murray Sperber in that he was given many privileges that other authors of books regarding Notre Dame football were deprived of. These privileges allowed Sperber to do research on Notre Dame from a different point of view and in his research he found documents that jumpstarted his interest to actually write this fantastic book.
Charley Johnson is a very talented NFL quarterback from NMSU that not many people know about. Having accomplished so much, I feel that people should. Bleacher Report’s Brendan Majev, ranked him the 91st greatest quarterback of all time. He was drafted 10th round by the St. Louis Cardinals. After playing with them and the Oilers, he ended his career with the Denver Broncos in 1975. Topics gone over in this essay include his early life, his college football career, his NFL career, his army career, and his education.

Brett Favre grew up idolizing a pair of Southern quarterbacks, the Saints' Archie Manning and the Cowboys' Staubach. He grew up in Kiln, Mississippi and went to high school in there. His high school, Hancock North Central, honored him this past May by re-naming the field, 'Brett Favre Field,' and unveiling a life-sized statue of the quarterback at the stadium's entrance. The school previously had retired his jersey, Number 10, in 1993. He stayed in the south to go to college where he went to Southern Miss. He became the starter at Southern Miss in his third game of his freshman season. Favre majored in special education. He led his Southern Mississippi team to 29 victories, including two bowl victories, during his four varsity seasons, 1987-90, and climaxed his collegiate career by earning a MVP award in the East-West Shrine game featuring the nation's best seniors. Favre set school records for passing yards (8,193), pass attempts (1,234), completions (656), completion percentage (53.2), touchdowns (55), and with only 35 interceptions. His production included five 300-yard passing games and five 3-TD performances, while his 7,695 regular-season passing yards ranked him among the top 30 of all-time NCAA passers. His 1.57 interception ratio in 1988 was the lowest among the 50 top-ranked passers in the nation, and his 2.9 interception rate for his four-year career also ranks as one of the best in NCAA history. Also he was the MVP of the All-American Bowl at the conclusion of his senior year. All those records and stats and that was only in college!!!
Joe Montana is one of the greatest football players to ever play. Joe worked hard for what he earned and deserved every bit of it. He had to earn his position on every football team he has played for an he did it very well. He won 4 super bowls and many awards during and after his career and is currently in the hall of
The college football world has gone mad. Conferences are doing battle in courtrooms instead of on the football field. Teams are leaving their conferences and throwing tradition and loyalty out the window for a bigger paycheck. The Bowl Championship Series was supposed to end the confusion in the college football post season. It was supposed to crown a true champion. Instead, the B.C.S. has only brought more light to the fact that in college football it is all about money and TV contracts. Teams that have no right going to a major bowl game go because of who they are and, more importantly, who their fans are and how much money the fans are will to spend. Players are failing classes, stealing, doing drugs, breaking almost every law imaginable, and they are still suiting up to play on Saturday. In this new age of college football, there is a man who is as old school as having goal posts right on the goal line. He is short in stature, but he is larger than life. He has given millions of dollars back to his university, and he has put his heart and his soul into molding young me. Joe Paterno has become an icon of college football. In these modern times, however, his morals and his coaching style seem outdated. Now, in the twilight of his career, he has to battle a grueling Big Ten schedule, the media who made him a legend and who are now looking to make him into a fool, and even his once loyal fans who have turned their backs on him. Joe Paterno has his back against the wall; it seems everything is working against him. He could walk away now and forever be remembered as a great football coach, or he can keep running out of that tunnel and work on putting Penn State football back on the map. He can take back the title that is rightfully his, the greatest college football coach of all time. Joe Paterno should remain in charge of the Penn State football program. Along the way, he deserves every Penn State fans support, win or lose.
While in college, football players live like normal college students. Most college athletes are rewarded scholarships for playing sports. This doesn’t make them different from other students though. They go to class, and live like every other college student on campus. This differs very much from life in the NFL. While in the NFL players make millions of dollars, and become celebrities. Unlike college football players, NFL players don’t live like regular people. They usually live in mansions, and have an abundance of riches. Because of this, it is easier for fans to relate to college football players.
...y would argue that no other quarterback will be able to ever match his level of success. Even though he was interested in other sports as a young boy, it is crystal clear that he was supposed to play football. At six feet five inches and 230 pounds, we can assume that he would be a formidable opponent in any sport; but looks don't count. Actions are what count, and Peyton has certainly delivered in that department.
had (12,312) nor scored as many touchdowns. Yet and still football was not even his
Instructed by the NFL not to use his career to publicize his personal, religious beliefs, Tim Tebow didn't throw a fit. Instead, he became physically involved and active in his cause and community. He's been criticized time and time again, however, he has continued his efforts towards his cause. Others don't agree with him, yet he's not acting out, offending large groups, to try to get his point across. He's putting in hard work to be the change he wants to see.
The San Francisco 49ers drafted Jerry Rice in the first round. It was a really up and down season for Jerry but he slowly gained momentum throughout the year. In his second year he teamed up with a Football veteran Joe Montana. He caught 86 catches, with 15 touchdowns, and 1,570 receiving yards. Jerry Rice was really famous for his fitness level. Jerry Rice went on to play for 20
What truly is amazing is the person Tim Tebow represents off the field. He is a devout Christian who works to spread his religion and give hope to those in need. Tebow has been involved with controversy that started in his days in high school, due to a law in Florida that allowed him to pick his high school. Tebow is possibly the only player to be under national scrutiny from his high school playing days through his career in the NFL both on and off the field. Most of this controversy is because of his faith and how he displayed it on field. The best way to describe him is to say that he is a polarizing person and player in the sense that people either love or hate him. Tim Tebow is, indeed, a great person and role model on the playing field as well as off of it.
In conclusion, the NFL Draft has changed so much since its beginning. Whether it be the rules or the talent level of the players. The draft has become a very interesting proposition for teams to find new talent, and that has showed with all the media coverage of it today. That leaves us with one thing left. With the 2015 NFL draft your team selects? Who will it be next? Will it be a running back of sorts, a pass heavy offense, or even a shutdown defense? This will not be known till next year, but whatever picks are made you better believe they will probably favor the passing game.
JJ Watt is a star NFL player. He is a defensive end for the Houston Texans. JJ has his own foundation to help middle school aged kids understand the game more and become more involved with other kids and activities. He is from Waukesha Wisconsin and also stars in a couple movies. This athlete and well rounded guy is someone that many kids look up to. JJ Watt is an influential advocate and role model through his actions including his role as a pro football player, creating his own non-profit foundation and by supporting other organizations.
NFL players need an education in case of injuries or if they can’t play for any reason. Players can have a degree in any type of subject. If a player wants to play in the NFL, he has to attend a college or a university that has a good football program. Some players come from high school but most players come from a four year college (Field 11). If you have a son that is going to be in the NFL who wants to play linemen, he has to be about 6’8” tall and weigh around 350 lbs. Players have to know the game. They can’t hope to be a NFL player if they don’t understand how to play the game (Green 174).
