John Wayne Gacy was the most frightening serial killer and the first serial killer clown. The first actual clown serial killer, It was later discovered that he had committed his first known killing in 1972, taking the life of Timothy McCoy after luring the teen to his home. John Wayne Gacy, Jr. was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 17, 1942, to John Stanley Gacy and Marion Elaine Robinson. He had two sisters. His father was an auto repair machinist and World War I veteran. His father was an abusive alcoholic and young John had a very difficult relationship with him. The father used to mercilessly beat the boy for no reason, and even rendered him unconscious with his brutal physical assaults. His mother tried her best to protect John from his father, but to no avail. Another unfortunate incident happened in the little boy’s life when he was sexually molested by a family friend. Known also as “The Killer Clown”, he sexually assaulted, tortured and murdered at least 33 teenage boys and men. The execution, which took place in the old Stateville Penitentiary here, followed last-minute appeals by Mr. Gacy's lawyers, asserting that their 52-year-old client was mentally incompetent, that he was out of town at the time of 16 of the killings and that Illinois' method of execution was unconstitutional. But none of the state or Federal judges appealed to on Monday, including Justice John Paul Stevens of the United States Supreme Court, would stay Mr. Gacy's execution. Howard A. Peters, a corrections official, said Mr. Gacy was pronounced dead at 12:58 A.M., nearly an hour after the injection of three lethal chemicals had been scheduled to begin.
