It sets the wrong example for everyone and is not a characteristic of an exemplary leader. According to standard ten of the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (2015), a school leader should continuously seek the improvement of every aspect of schools. The superintendent should be addressing any misconceptions that are brought to the superintendents’ cabinets. The weekly meetings that were being held should be to discover methods and strategies to improve student success and develop professional and knowledgeable employees. Instead, this superintendent seems to protect others from being held accountable for what they say and do. According to standard two, school leaders should promote effective communication, set professional norms, promote integrity, fairness, transparency, trust, collaboration, perseverance, learning, continuous improvement, and professional behavior. This superintendent does not conduct himself as an example for others to follow and does not uphold professionalism while conducting meetings with the assistant superintendent; therefore, one must wonder what other business affairs have been conducted in an unprofessional manner and to what

Does anyone in the Bellmore-Merrick area believe that if Cracco was a women the outcome of DeTommaso's "Did nothing wrong" ruling would have been the same?

Gender stereotypes in the workplace stemmed from the assumption that women belong at home taking care of the children, while men work and make money to support the family. Despite reductions in blatant forms of discrimination, women continue to experience subtler forms discrimination, such as having their input in groups ignored and having their performances devalued (Ridgeway and Correll 2004; Valian 1999). Although many presumes that gender stereotypes targets women, there are just as many stereotypes geared toward men. Both men and women have legal protection against gender discrimination in the hiring process or workplace. Gender stereotypes do exist and influence perceptions of both men and women in everyday life. Sometimes gender bias in job descriptions can deter women that qualifies for the job from applying for the positions. There were many studies that proved that gender and racial biases can affect how employers evaluate potential candidates’ applications, leading employers to favor white male applicants more over equally qualifies women and people of color. For example, in a double-blind study, science faculty members were asked to evaluate a fictitious student application who was randomly assigned a male or female name for a laboratory manager position. Gender has been a much discussed topic for intuitional bias. One example of this is the United States military. Women have been excluded from positions in combat for years; the ban was finally lifted recently (Nindl, B. C., Jones, B. H., Van Arsdale, S. J., Kelly, K., & Kraemer, W. J. ,2016). The main argument was that women were not physically strong enough or capable to complete the tasks. Take a look into a history book and notice the dominance of texts written about men, by men. Notice the rebellions, the movements, and the outcry of unjust ruling, all perpetrated by men, of course only according to the history books. Where were the women in all of this? They were there yet silenced. Nowadays, there is a stereotype of women being quiet and to themselves, and while it would make sense for way back in the past, it is entirely untrue for today’s standard. With the ever approaching equality of all, both genders have become equally boisterous with what they say and women are in no way quitter than men.

Sexism is a major factor in the workforce.Today male and female have a hard time breaking into the opposite gender dominated fields. This has happened because of the media, it has showed us that male have certain “right” jobs, as well as female. Female still dominate traditional female professions like cosmetology jobs are 92.9 percent women working them(Wolfe). If a man were to get into cosmetology they would most likely be judged for having that job, because we stereotype that they can't have a feminine job. Women have a harder time getting into high level positions. “Women make up only 21 of the S&P’s 500 CEOs,” (Berman). This has happened because the media has set in place stereotypes that it is wrong for women to have high level positions. It is getting better, in 2013 women chief financial officers increased 35 percent at large U.S. companies from 2012 (Frier and Hymowitz).
