The use of cigarettes has been an unsound, yet common practice amongst people. When a new way of trying to quit smoking these ruinous tobacco products came out, people were conflicted. The passages “Two Cheers for E-Cigarettes” by Joe Nocera and “L.A. Bans E-Cigarettes in Parks, Restaurants, and Workplaces” by David Zahniser and Marisa Gereger list the pros and cons of these new devices. Many people claim that they are praiseworthy, while others say they are just as bad a “real cigarettes”. Everyone knows that cigarettes are unhealthy for you mostly because of the tobacco that is in them. e-cigarettes are an imitation that fulfills the sensation of smoking but without the harmful side effects. In the passage “Two Cheers for E-Cigarettes” it states that “It has the same look and feel as the lethal product; indeed that’s a large part of the appeal. It, too, is addictive. But the ingredients that kill people are absent.” They deliver the nicotine without the harmful tobacco. While people can be addicted to nicotine, which is a stimulant, they are not going to die from it like with tobacco. However, e-cigarettes are the first product to gain serious traction with people with smoking addictions. In paragraph four of “Two Cheers for E-Cigarettes,” the text states that “We all know how hard it is to quit smoking. We also know that nicotine replacement therapies, like the patch, haven’t worked especially well. The electronic cigarette is the first harm-reduction product to gain serious traction among American smokers.” The e-cigarette is by far the most fruitful way people have used to quit their smoking
