Jim Elliot was determined to share the gospel to native tribes even threatened his life. Jim Elliot was a hero of faith who made his name known around the world in Ecuador. He was relentless to learn and teach God’s word as much as he could. His story inspired many others to do the same thing and many men in the native tribes were saved. Jim Elliot was an American missionary who became a hero of faith because of his missions in Ecuador, his famous quotes and teaching, and his commitment to sharing the gospel. At such a young age, Jim Elliot was able to reach so many people. At the age of 20, he traveled to Mexico for his first mission. He stayed there for six weeks and began to study Spanish. One of his most famous quotes is “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose” (Elliot 1). In this quote he is saying that a man is no fool if he shares the gospel instead of keeping it to himself, and gains the unending love of Jesus, which he cannot lose. Another quote is “Let not our longing slay the appetite of our living” (Elliot 1). This quote is saying that everyone shall not determine the fullness of your length by the length of it. If a man lives a short life, but it is full of being a witness for God, it is a full and satisfying life. One quote that represents him is “Oh the fullness, pleasure, sheer excitement of knowing God on earth” (Elliot 1). Jim Elliot was passionate about knowing God. No matter how hard his life might be he is still grateful and excited to know God. Another one of his most famous quotes is “When it comes time to die, make sure that all you have to do is die” (Elliot 1). He is saying here that when you are going to die, make sure you have done everything you needed to do in your walk with God.
