While Rice was in college his principal offered him a deal. His said you can either play on the football team or you can be punished. He chose to play on the football team. For as long as I can remember I have been a Notre Dame football fan. My father is to credit for getting me into it. He brought us to South Bend a couple of time for some games and I was just amazed by the campus and the history of the football program, so it was no surprise that I chose this particular book. Shake Down The Thunder: The Creation of Notre Dame Football was written by a man named Murray Sperber who was a sports writer interested on why fans were so into college football. Because of his interest Sperber decided to go around the country to certain college campuses to do research on this. He started with the University of Notre Dame because he was aware of the history and the passion of their football program, he was also aware of the appreciation Notre Dame had from their fans. This book deals with they history of Notre Dame football including the nation championships, the players, the coaches, and the program itself. It explains exactly what happened thought out its history, the reality behind the myths so to speak. Notre Dame was very kind to Murray Sperber in that he was given many privileges that other authors of books regarding Notre Dame football were deprived of. These privileges allowed Sperber to do research on Notre Dame from a different point of view and in his research he found documents that jumpstarted his interest to actually write this fantastic book.
Charley Johnson is a very talented NFL quarterback from NMSU that not many people know about. Having accomplished so much, I feel that people should. Deion Sanders, also known as Prime Time, is probably one of the most successful athletes in the sports world. Not only did he start off young as a football star, but he also was able to become a pro baseball player as well. Ever since high school he's been a star: his goal was to become a famous, wealthy, and admired athlete. Playing both football and baseball, he was able to achieve this goal. Sanders is the only man to play in both a Super Bowl and a World Series. He became an all star from a young age, playing basketball, football, baseball, and track. He was able to letter in all sports and took his skill and talent with him to Florida State University to further his career. Though he had all this success, Deion Sanders eventually ran into his own problems and drama creating much controversy, marriage and religious conflicts, and almost ending his career. But he was able to learn from these experiences and shape his future in a positive way.
Born in Cairo, Georgia, Robinson moved with his mother and siblings to Pasadena, California in 1920, after his father deserted the family. At the University of California, Los Angeles, he was a star player of football, basketball, track, and baseball; the only athlete in UCLA history to letter in four different sports. He played with Kenny Washington, who would become one of the first black players in the National Football League since the early 1930s. Robinson also met his future wife, Rachel, at UCLA. His brother Matthew "Mack" Robinson (1912-2000) competed in the 1936 Summer Olympics, finishing second in the 200-meter sprint behind Jesse Owens.

Paul Bryant was born on September 11, 1913, near Fordyce, Arkansas. Paul Bryant was the son of William Monroe and Dora Ida Kilgore and was the eleventh of twelve children. Bryant grew to six foot one at the age of thirteen. Bryant earned the nickname “Bear” for agreeing to wrestle a bear. At Fordyce High School he was an offensive lineman and defensive end and earned all-state honors for the 1931 Arkansas High School State Championship. When Bryant accepted a scholarship to the University of Alabama, he elected to leave high school before graduating, so he had to enroll in Tuscaloosa high school to finish his diploma. Bryant played end for Alabama opposite to the big star, Don Hutson, a Pro Football Hall of Famer. Bryant was also a participant in the school's 1934 National Championship team. Paul was third team all conference in 1933 and 1935, and was second team All-SEC in 1934. With a partially broken leg, Bryant played against Tennessee in 1935. “Bryant pledged the Sigma Nu Social fraternity, and as a senior, he married Mary Harmon,” said Joe Marcin. When people talk about the impact of women in professional sports, they mention one huge concept: Marketing. Marketing to women is a tremendous source of profit for professional sports, but the impact of how women would respond recently became knowledge. However, now the marketing programs of the different professional sports, including the NFL, need to change their approach on marketing to women. Because the NFL still lacks sales to women compared to other professional sports in America, the NFL needs to change their viewpoints on the experience of women in the stadium and the variety of merchandise available for females.

Jackie Robinson overcame many struggles in life such as being included in the civil rights movement, facing discrimination, and he achieved being the first black man in major league baseball. He was born on January 31, 1919 in Cairo, Georgia on Hadley Ferry Road. It is a blue-collar town of about 10,000 people. Jackie Robinson became the first black player in the major leagues with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Even though he achieved this major goal he still had trouble getting there. He and his siblings were raised by his single mother. Jackie attended Muir High School and Pasadena Junior College. He was a great athlete and played many sports. He played football, basketball, track, and of course baseball. He left school in 1941, worked as an athletic director and played semiprofessional football for the Honolulu Bears before being drafted to the Army in 1942. While he was in the army he became close friends with Joe Louis. The heavyweight used his popularity to protest about the delayed entry of black soldiers. Two years later he got the honor to be second lieutenant in 1943. After an accident where he refused to sit in the back of an unsegregated bus, military police arrested Robinson. A duty officer requested this and then later he requested that Jackie should be court martialed. Since this happened Jackie was not allowed to be deployed overseas to the World War II. He never saw combat during the war. Jackie left the Army with an honorable discharge.
