Both of these guys are considered heroes by many people. Most people think being a hero is saving lives or having super powers, but that’s not the case with Jay Moriarity. Yes beowulf did save many lives, but there’s a lot more to being a hero than most people think.
For instance you have to have courage and pride, but good pride.

Beowulf was introduced in the story as a brave man who had no fear, and everyone thought he could conquer any fear if he had one which he did. When I think about bravery and no fear I automatically think of Jay Moriarity. One thing that they both had in common was they had absolutely no fear. If they did they both knew how to overcome that fear with no problem. It just takes a certain kind of guts and bravery that no one has but these two heroes.

Now if you don’t know who Jay Moriarity is then let me fill you in. Jay was an only child who lived with his mom in Santa Cruz California. Santa Cruz is known for its outstanding surf. Jay took to surfing fairly quickly. At a young age he knew that surfing was going to take …show more content…

Not even the most advanced surfers talked about trying to take a 30 foot drop. Jay thought that it was what he was put on this earth for. So jay talked his neighbor who goes by the nickname of ‘Frosty’ who happened to be one of three people to ever surf Mavericks to train him for that wave. So jay trained for over a month and when that time came for Jay to take that drop he knew that’s why he was put on this earth. So jay surfed the wave and conquered his fear of not living life to the fullest. He once said on an interview that “everyone should live life to the fullest every day that life is short and you only get to live this life once so enjoy it.” Jay died five years after he surfed the iconic wave, while freediving in the maldives due to shallow water
