Right now, approximately 50,500 children in the United Kingdom are at risk of being abused! (“Incidence”). Jane Eyre was not only neglected but also subject to repeated physical, emotional, and mental abuse . Not only was she a victim of abuse but her abusers where none other than the people entrusted to protect her well-being. Yes, that’s right, her abusers where her Aunt Reed, and Cousins John, Georgina, and Eliza Reed. Jane, being a strong willed independent individual suffers through it and ends up sustaining a rather happy life. As one George Washington once said “Truth will always prevail where there is pains to bring it to light”.
I couldn’t wish the pain the Reed children inflict upon Jane on even my worst enemy. It may seem like John’s abuse was more damaging due to its violent nature but in reality Georgina & Eliza’s abuse was way more damaging to Jane; why?
