Becoming a famous musician is something that it seems everybody wants but only few may strive for. It’s a long, complicated road with all sorts of obstacles in the way but once it’s over they can look back and say that “I finally made it.” Probably the best thing about being an up and coming musician is the help other musicians will give. They will tell it straight forward, and the first thing they all say is that time and dedication are the key to success. Also to be prepared for it to take a lot of time for your music to get out there. The first thing a person may notice about interviewing artists is that it’s far from formal. Interviewing artists is usually a laid back and interesting experience to be a part of because most musicians are not looking to be in a formal environment and are more willing to be open about their personal life and things that they have been through. Along with the laid back feeling, they will all usually say the same or similar things as far as advice goes, and every time you hear it, it makes more and more sense. One thing that they will all say is that becoming a musician is far from easy. It comes with frustrations, troubles getting recognized, and people bringing down the music or saying the music will never be anything better. I recently experienced this with two ignorant individuals, showing that people can be less than respectable. Even if some people put down the style or the music of the artist, the artist will be able to make it with dedication and practice, because constantly trying will get the artist he wants to be. Having an opportunity to interview an artist is definitely a phenomenal thing to do it is also an awfully rare occasion due to their conflicting work schedules, but if some... ... middle of paper ... ...earn the ways of starting and maintaining a record label. It will have to be a local college such as Portland Community College, because most others may make me pay to take a full class load. A choir class could benefit me because I can work more on pitch and making my voice sound more clear to the listener, and a group vocals class could help me work more independently on vocal techniques to bring my listener more into my music and be able to listen and understand the point I get across in an enjoyable and fulfilling experience. With an independent record label I can work on my own terms and things will be more trustworthy and easy because I will be able to do things myself. I would be able to manage the money the label makes and know everything that’s going on with the business. With all this knowledge I will be set up for success in the future of a Rap Musician.
Edgar Allan Poe has a style that is dark and morbid. His tone is very gloomy and obscure. The tone of “The Cask of Amontillado” is almost tame compared to the tone of “The Black Cat”, his other work we covered. The tone of that work is almost maddening. “The Cask of Amontillado” tone is very sinister and methodic. Whereas “The Black Cat”, has a pulse to a cadence and rhythm though no clear pattern is established. Poe’s style of writing seems so personal, as a reader I had to remind myself this was fiction. His first-person style of writing is so detailed and intricate it is very easy to become invested in the world he creates. “The Cask of Amontillado” and “The Black Cat” both have themes of revenge where the supposed victim is untimely
The first topic to be discussed will be the similarities between the two tales. In both of the stories the murderers knew the men that they killed. Also, in both stories the murderers hid the body of the victim. An important factor in a tale about murder, is that the killer has a motive to commit the crime. There are plenty of similarities between Poe’s stories, just as well, there are many differences between the tales also.
The Tell Tale Heart is a short story that is long on imagery and symbolism. Take the old mans eye for example. The narrator describes it as a “Vulchers” eye. This conjures up an image of a vulcur circling a dying animal. The narrator is so fixated on it he mentions it three times in the story.
“Never shall I forget that night, the first night in camp, which has turned my life into one long night, seven times cursed and seven times sealed.” (Wiesel 32). Elie Wiesel wrote his memoir Night about his eleven months in a Nazi concentration camp, which he compared to one long night. In the concentration camps he was subjected to physical and mental harm, which no human should ever have to endure. Wiesel’s memoir Night illustrates how his experiences in the Holocaust caused him to lose innocence, develop family bonds, and lose faith in religion.
Jesse James was born in Clay County, Missouri on the Fifth of September 1847. His parents were Zerelda and Robert James. They were hemp farmers that owned six slaves, but most people wouldn’t know that. They only know him as an outlaw. Nevertheless, the name “Jesse James” is one that almost everyone has heard, even though he has been dead for over one hundred years. (Defeat n. pg.) Now, although Jesse James was a traditional outlaw in many respects, his legend perseveres as an icon of American culture.
Money, fame, and promiscuity are the three main components of the American Dream, and what better way to get to that level than through music? The truth is, almost any other profession has a higher statistical chance of achieving this goal. Musicianship is a nearly impossible career plan to survive with. An artist will spend incalculable hours learning and mastering their craft, only to be oppressed by the community. No matter how much time or money a musician spends on his/her creations, the world will typically find a way to avert their success.
In “The Raven”, a man’s wife death causes him to hear a knocking at the door before realizing its coming from the window and he communicates with a raven. I will be comparing both of Poe’s books “The Tell-Tale Heart” and “The Raven” focusing on the narrator, setting, and the tone. The main subjects I will be discussing in my paper are the bothered narrators, the senses the narrators’ possess, and the use of a bird in both of the stories.
Tell-Tale Heart, written by Edgar Allan Poe, depicts the inner conflict of a murderer as he retells his story of how he came to kill the old man as a means to prove his sanity. The story is told in the point of view of an unreliable narrator, of whom is greatly disturbed by the eye of a geriatric man. The eye in question is described as evil, irritating the narrator beyond his comprehension, to the point when he has no choice but to get rid of the vexation by destroying the eye. This short story is similar to The Black Cat, of which is also penned by Poe. In The Black Cat, the narrator, albeit unreliable, describes his wrongdoings to the reader. He tells his story of how he murdered his wife, killed one of the two cats, and trapped the other
The information contained in this book was a bit challenging to understand. The author used a lot of unnecessary information that took away from Poe’s life or even death. It focused more on mediocre happenings that had nothing to do with Poe’s work.
Edgar Allen Poe has written numerous stories throughout his life time. Some of these stories shared some major ideas in them. The stories shared a tones, moods and most importantly different themes. For instance, the two stories; The Tell-Tale Heart and The Masque of the Red Death. These two stories are connected by the eerie mood that is created by Poe and the themes that he puts into the stories. For example in both stories a theme of time is seen to make a large contribution in them. Time is constantly being mentioned in the two stories. As for another theme that connects the two stories and leads to similarities is the different versions of reality presented in the stories.
Poe starts off the short story by giving us insight into the unnamed narrator’s twisted mind. The narrator explains his desire and plans to kill the old
In this essay, I will layout and explain the infrastructure of the music industry, giving details about its major assets and real life examples of job roles within the sectors. I will also expand on the major record companies and their role in the industry, and I will focus on showing the well-oiled machine that the industry is.
Record labels are responsible for the production, manufacture, distribution, promotion and enforcement of copyright for sound recordings. They are also in charge of discovering new artists (A&R) and maintaining contracts with artists and their managers. Record labels are divided into two main categories: majors and indies. Majors have a parent company, a distribution arm and a publishing arm. Independent labels are independently owned, have a 3rd party distributor and usually have no publishing arm.
A university or college is my chance to make something of myself, no one in my immediate family has graduated from college yet so I’d like for them to be proud of me for that achievement.
