The website above explained the early works of Opera such as Dafne, written by Jacopo Peri. The website also stated facts that include when Opera began to be played to the public, and the problems it started to face when it was released. Even so, Opera was able to eliminate those problems with the technique of Bel Canto, which gave the music more human emotion and drama. Opera today is a famous form of western music. This website was able to contribute to my research by providing information about the early works of Opera, and what it included. The article is a bibliography about Monteverdi's life and accomplishments, such as the advances he made to opera with his emotional style of music. In his Operas, Monteverdi reflected drama with the music at every turn, with the sung dialogues and acts that had dramatic and musical unity. Monteverdi was one of the most successful composers; who's modern Operas, that include character development and emotional expressiveness, still exist today. I'll be using this source as an example of one of the most successful composers in Opera, along with his techniques and structures that were used. By having this source, I am able to have an example of how Opera developed under the early composers, what it consisted of, and how it was changed as time progressed. Not only that, but the information on Monteverdi also gave evidence on how Opera became very successful in Italy. Not only that, but it also explains the emergence of Opera in Venice and about the first permanent Opera house know as the Teatro di San Cassiano. The website also contains information based on how Opera was introduced to the public and what it was before then, as well as how Opera had ties to the economy. The website goes on to explain the seeds of Opera, where Cristofan Malvezzi lied in Florence and attempted to recreate the music of ancient Greece (first monody), and also how some of the early composers, such as Peri, started off and how they contributed to the early beginnings of Opera. I'll be able to use this source towards my project, because it describes the origins of Italian Opera and characteristics about the beginnings of it. It also can be used to show the development of Opera over time. This source is reliable, because it contains information that was supported through primary sources, and also has a works cited page.

I used this website for the map of Italy in order to have a visual representation on the website to explain where certain places are located in order to fully explain the origins and how geography had an effect
