Dan Connelly Mr. Fisher English 10 March 8 2014 JSOC And Modern Special Forces Joint Special Operations Command is a group of elite forces who work alone and side by side with other branches of the military and other countries despite the fact they don't normally work with them. These men are responsible for tracking and killing Osama Bin Laden and other big name terrorist. JSOC consists of Delta force, DEVGRU, and other secretive civilian and military groups. J-Soc is an elite military unit that operates in the most intense battles the world can throw at them. They are the spartans of the modern world and they're known in the military as “the tip of the spear”. The Creation of J-SOC Joint Special Operations Command was created in 1980 as a member of US. SOCOM ( US. Special Operations Command). Their initial mission and role in SOCOM was to train and assess elite soldiers in Special Operations Programs in the US, to be able to work side by side seamlessly with the worlds other elite Special Operators and law enforcement. For examples, Navy SEALS and Israeli IDF Forces, Green Berets and British SAS, and even with civilian counterparts like the CIA and SEALS or FBI HRT teams and Air force Pararescue. JSOC also took on the role of training Special Mission Units in a numerous amount of schools and training courses.( Smith) The military had ussocom who had units like navy seals and army rangers but the military needed an elite group of people who could perform anything and everything the Pres/ secdef could throw at them. At first, their mission was to train socoms elite, but in 1981 the president decided that JSOCs role in the military needed to be changed. The SPCC is targeted to commissioned officers in grades 0-5 (Lieutenant Colonel) or 0-6 (Colonel) who have been centrally selected to command TO&E (Troops, Organization & Equipment) Sustainment Units. This course provides training in modular force operations for newly selected command designees, enabling them to function effectively throughout their command tour. This paper will not bore with the definition of a profession. The United States Army is about more than words, it is about action. The action of over 238 years of tradition and service. The Army is a profession. A profession requires its members to adhere to prolonged training and learn specialized skills. A member of a profession must wholly commit himself and his skills to a calling which is entrusted by the public. A profession provides its members with intrinsic value which motivates beyond financial gain. The Army is a higher calling which demands all of these qualities and more.
The U.S Army is the strongest most respected and feared ground force in the world. It is also the oldest branch of the military and also the largest U.S. Military Service. There are approximately 76,000 officers and 401,000 enlisted members in the active duty Army. The success of the Army lives and dies on themselves and others. The army protects all that the constitution stands for. And each soldier defends this to their last breath with Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Honor, and Personal Courage. Black Operations had been a continuous secret really started in WWII with the Rangers and UDT. The OSS started then which became the CIA (Werthmuller). Another name for Black Operations is Special Operations Forces which is another term used to describe elite military teams trained to go on high-risk, dangerous missions that conventional units cannot do (Werthmuller). These soldiers need to be physically and mentally healthy, and have the courage and skill to operate individually or in small teams. “Everything they do is considered black ops because no one hears about it and most likely never will” (Werthmuller). Most of Officer Werthmuller’s serving period in Honduras was part of Black Operations. Officer Werthmuller spoke of how it was hard for his team’s families and his own to not know where they were during these times, but that nothing could be said or released to these families because of the mission’s secrecy or the chance of wrecking the mission (Werthmuller).
During their travels the Trojans often played games and had competition, this principle of honor and competition would develop a type of mastery within the nation. But even so competition is a catalyst for anger and hatred that can boil men’s blood, so did it build or break the Roman empire? In either case it happened, which did improve the men’s strength from athletic competitions and grew the culture immensely, but also inspired a competition that had the ability to ruin the people’s love for each-other. In addition this competition has inspired western culture even today with the Olympics and sports. Aeneas’ men were inspired and motivated in their competition which led them to pushing and working harder than their normal capacity would allow, so this competition helped the people work harder than thought possible. Although the side-effects of things like this could be problematic the good that comes from it outweighs the problems, and it is a principle for nations to seek out correctly. Also what contributed to the growing service during this time was that the USMS was the only racially integrated service in the United States. The men who instructed recruits the USMS were thousands of active and retired mariners from the Navy and Coast Guard. The USMS took over 250,000 recruits and was able to turn them into fighting mariners. The instructors taught the men how to operate anti-aircraft guns and cannons, along with the proper equipment used to protect them selves.

Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines the United States Armed Forces, each has a separate mission but all work towards the same goal. As a young child I grew up around many of these individuals who served their nation proudly and honorably. I always admired that, they were all so willing to give of themselves. Each took part in this brotherhood for their own individual reasons, I too have has this calling. My mom always knew form the time I was a little boy that being a part of the United States Military was what I was going to do. So when I enlisted on October 7, 2015 it was not a big surprise. However, my MOS was, I choose to be a (19K) M1 Armored Crewman, which basically means I will be working with one of the biggest and deadliest military machines.
