There are numerous issues with the American education system from financial issues to unmotivated teachers to unmotivated students. The root of the problem begins with "standardized testing". Standardize test have taken over America with teachers now instructing there students how to pass a test on information that they might never have to use again instead of actually teaching them useful information they can use throughout their lives and for their careers. The standardize test is used so that the government can gauge exactly where our country ranks amongst the rest of the world. The problem is that there is no set standard.
The only time in which the nation gauges the youth on the same standard is when they take the SAT's. This test composes of three sections including math, reading, and writing. According to the website Collegeboard.org a website that is nationally known for its practice test on this test. "The SAT and SAT Subject Tests are a suite of tools designed to assess your academic readiness for college.... measuring the skills required for success in the 21st century." (collegeboard.com) This test helps determines what college the individual will be attending. College isn't for everybody but school is something we all need at one point of our lives. The test does however show just how much information a student has amassed throughout there years in school.
I propose a policy in which we eliminate state testing and measure students knowledge on the same test. I believe the test should be the SAT. It's a basic general knowledge test that one has amassed throughout their years of school right before they graduate high school. The Sat is divided into Three different parts testing Math, Reading, and writing. The math...

Overall I believe the fair way to evaluate kids is by testing them. To keep it safe fair and simple we should test every student off of the SAT's. Since The SAT is taken across the nation eliminate all other test. So that teachers can have the freedom to teach without being bounded to teach what the state wants. The SAT test only the general knowledge it not fair to test a Californian on the knowledge on the state of Virginia's history. If they will never have to restate that information again.
