Legalization of Marijuana in the United States is an ongoing topic that has been going on for several years. There are vast majority of Americans who are for this move and against this move. While each side has several good arguments to defend their case, neither one has a distinct advantage over the other. I will be going over several arguments or point of views as well will have several facts about the effects of Marijuana whether it is good or bad. Marijuana is a very prominent and controversial issue in society today. Many people are under the assumption that Marijuana is a harmful drug and receive heavy criticism because of stereotypical view people have on “pot smokers” or “pot heads. However it is a well know fact that people have been using Marijuana for over 5,000 for medical purposes. Today thousands of patients across the United States are using Marijuana as an effective way to treat their ailments. These disorders consist of pain relief, nausea, glaucoma, and movement disorders. Some use it as an appetite stimulant for people who have AIDS/HIV that are going through chemotherapy. In today’s economic situation, Marijuana could be a huge revenue creator. In fact it is estimated in the state of California, if weed was legalized the state could benefit over 1 billion dollars in annually by taxing and sales of Marijuana to the public. It is estimated that Mendocino County in California generates over 1 billion a year on the sale of medical marijuana. From a numbers point of view, in Mendocino County, it costs the grower about $400 to grow a pound of weed. In return the grower sells one pound of weed to a middle man for $2,500, then it yields about $6000 on the street.
