The Palestinian and Israeli relationship can be described as a divorced couple still living together under the same roof. On one hand, Palestinians want a separation of Israel into two separate states because the restrictions placed upon them violate their fundamental rights and hold them back from making the amount of money they should be making. Tareq Abbas, son of the Palestinian Authority President, Mohammad Abbas, said “If you don’t want to give me independence, at least give me civil rights,” (Rudoren). On the other hand, Israelis want to keep Israel as the one country it is today because the nation as a whole benefits economically from the current situation of keeping both groups united (Gavron). Although both Israel and Palestine do not recognize the other’s right to exist, they live together and have interdependent economies that keep them interconnected [in every aspect] [and united under one flag]
What the Jewish people of Israel fail to realize is, once they left their country, there is no way it would just be handed back over to them without any conflict. The first people that settled in Palestine or modern day Israel were the Jews. This dates back to the year 70 A.D. (Bard). The Jewish people believe Israel is a God-given gift, given to Abraham, a prophet of God. The Genesis states stories linked to this as well to justify it, according to the Jewish people (Israel and the Palestinians). After the Second Temple was destroyed forcing the Jewish people into Diaspora by the Roman Empire, the Jewish people returned for their sacred homeland which once belonged to them. The first and second Aliya, which referr to the mass migration of Zionist Jews to Israel from 1882-1914, gave birth to the State of Israel on May 14, 1...
