However many may feel as if the dangers of online networks are exaggerated. Social networks are dangerous for teens and adults because of health issues, job opportunities, and legal issues. Dangers of Online social sites Individuals all over the world may feel as if dangers of online social networks are exaggerated. “ Conflicting statistics display that accurate numbers of teens getting exposed to or that is affected by social risk don’t exist”. “Ed Roman Espejo of the Detroit Green Press expressed that, “ Fears of online crimes, sexual predators, cyber bullying and sexting of the internet is overblown”.

This lowered sense of self worth has devastating effects: According to psychologist Anthony Pellegrini, Bullying is a specific form of aggression and one that is used deliberately to secure resources like friends, self-esteem, and self worth. Sites like Facebook and MySpace make this easy through public posts and retaliations that encourage other mutual “friends” to join in. In fact, peer to peer harassment and bullying is the most common disadvantage to these sites. “This is where students are finding their identity and terrorizing each other. Cyber bullying is contributing to a generation of socially maladjusted adults and social networking sites are paving the way.
One misunderstood tweet can lead to hundreds of people hating you. A message you wanted people to hear could be misinterpreted and make your own internet friends turn on you. Strangers want to hurt you just because you won't change the way you are. Yes, social media can be beneficial in ways; however, the internet can change the way you perceive yourself and others and sometimes not in a positive way. Social media is harmful for our society for multiple reasons.
There are a lot of bad words, pictures, or videos in social media and we can find it accidentally. For people who can’t let it go, or maybe search it more, it can disturb their mindset and make it bad for their future. Also they can bring that bad habit to their real life. The third is cybercrime. Common types of social media is hacking, online scams and fraud, identity theft, attacks on computer system, etc.
