Unless mentally-obstructed by nature, I don’t agree that luck plays a significant part in the people we become and our ability to live the good life, we are responsible for achieving happiness and overcoming obstacles that momentarily prevents us from that state. Indeed, luck has a great influence in obtaining the goals and desires in one’s lives but that does not necessary mean that a good life cannot be accomplished without it. Although, luck enhances the chance to obtain pleasure at a faster and constant rate it is not responsible for achieving a good life in which happiness is achieved through sophisticated pleasure or appetite, knowledge and virtue. For Claudia Card, the opportunities to become a good person, and therefore having a good …show more content…
Women in society is great subject to study and gather observations as well as conclusions from their place in history and in today’s society. For example, there is a certain amount of luck when nature is involved in pre-conception, if a human being’s greatest goal is to be a ruler then there is natural luck involved; that person’s opportunity to become a ruler decreases significantly if that person is a female due to natural character traits associated with femininity. "Psychologically, men and women are almost a different species," said study researcher Paul Irwing, of the University of Manchester, in the United Kingdom. This is non-systematic luck, “luck that is brought about by natural causes or accidents that people do not have control over.” However, if one wants to be a ruler and is male then systematic luck exist if his goals are to become realistic. A few examples of this type of luck: a good family and culture background, material resources, and a favorable geographical location. These factors play a significant part of that person’s desire to become a leader. That being said, to have a good life you don’t need to become a ruler instead it is important to appreciate the limitations given by systematic and non-systemic luck and obtain knowledge, be virtuous and have a good appetite for essential pleasures, which lead to accomplishing a good
All people are forced to see themselves as society has shaped them, both male and female. Although progress for gender impartiality has been made, it can still be said that societal maxims enforce the incorrect notion that women are inferior to men. In matters of economics, women are offered far fewer employment opportunities, and I believe that this can be validated by the fact that many women have been conditioned to "marry well and let him...
Happiness is a reprise from the many trials and turmoil of life, and so it is natural that we should actively seek it. Ironically though, in our naïve belief that we can somehow augment the amount of happiness in our world, we are actually making our world more depressing to live in. Both John F. Schumaker, in The Happiness Conspiracy, and Ray Bradbury, in Fahrenheit 451, argue that our myopic pursuit of happiness is actually counterproductive. The two authors attempt to persuade the reader that happiness is, and should be, an almost-serendipitous byproduct of a truly fulfilling life, and therefore should not be an explicit objective.
The world, through different means, will always try to degrade people’s existence, but it’s up to us to rise up and act. For Nietzsche, Beauvoir and Voltaire, people should act and take the responsibilities. According to Nietzsche, people give meaning to their life by growing spontaneously, seeking out to say ‘yes’ to life to saturate it with happiness and passion. For Beauvoir, people, especially women, give their life meaning by not condemning to immanence, instead affirming their independence and transcending themselves to justify their existence. As per Voltaire, excessive optimism fades one’s sense of responsibility, taking away his or her freedom to take productive action. For Voltaire, optimism is good only when it compels people to take action, and bad when it forces people into believing that failure is inevitable.
The reading assignment for this unit included reading several articles and one book in particular, The Female Advantage, by Sally Helgesen as an introduction into varying leadership styles. Leadership, as a honed craft is practiced continually in different ways and varying circumstances, no two individuals will have the same leadership style. Certain distinctive traits brought into the forum and on display for followers to observe. Some traits can be visible, clothing or skin color as examples, others, however, are not as visible such as upbringing or family situation. Each of these factors could play a role in the leadership style of a leader. One trait that the author of the book uses to distinguish leaders is gender. As much as men and women must be treated the fairly and equally, it cannot be denied that outside of the biological aspect, men and women are slightly different. Each gender brings a unique approach to leadership situations.
TifAni FaNelli , the protagonist of “ Luckiest Girl Alive,” by Jessica Knoll and I are not all similar. We have different views of the world, are viewed by the world in distinctive ways and I would respond in a different way to the central conflict of the novel. Therefore, I believe given the chance, we would not be friends. TifAni FaNelli is the protagonist in the book she lives a successful life and is engaged to a handsome WASP name Luke. However, there is a tragic twist that puts her into an extreme vulnerable state after the rape in which she faced, which make her become much meaner and make many people look at her differently and how she view the world.
people who possessed the art of enjoying life to the full yet at the same time were perpetually conscious of fate,
Society often clings to the notion that success is a simple result of individual merit; that those successful “outliers” got to where they are with passion, skill, and hard work.
The fact that men generally have controlled much of societies resources and held positions of power throughout history have led women to be subject to gender inequality. In general, men tend to have more power and privilege than women who are in the same or lower social class. However, studies have found that women in higher social standing are more likely to have more power and privilege than men in a lower social class. The conflict theorist approach to gender sheds a lot of light on why women earn lower salaries, face discrimination, and sexual harassment. In ancient societies, men had a biological advantage of both physically being stronger than their female counterparts and not having to carry a biological offspring. From the perspective of conflict theorist, the fact that female’s are biologically built to carry offsprings puts them at a huge disadvantage. A pregnancy limits a female’s mobility and therefore makes her dependent on another person to hunt for food and provide shelter. Therefore, the male is given a lot of power as he is the one that is responsible for the basic elements to survive. In a perfect world, the male or father would be kind, generous, and thoughtful in his pursuit to ensure the survival of his female spouse and offspring. However, in a world driven by conflict theory it is easy to see how a male bestowed with so much power could abuse it. In
Not only are women expected to lead lives in which they depend on men to be happy and wealthy, but they are expected to do so with total obedience to the expectations of men. It is important to see how women react to the requests of men and how much freedom for thought and action they are allowed to have and what consequences occur when a woman disobeys what is asked of her.

Although people can earn a lot of money in lotteries, it is not a good idea to get involved in lotteries because there are more harmful effects than benefits. A lottery is a competition where the winner gets picked from a winning lottery ticket. In the lottery, people put down their bets and one person is picked to be the winner. The winner is determined by the winning ticket.
An extensive use of Goldratt's thinking process is applied in the various businesses as part of the problem solving. "It's not luck" emphasizes the importance of using the thinking processes in business and in your personal life. The thinking processes refer to a logical, graphical, general and practical method of problem solving methodology and basically comprised of 3 steps. These steps as described by Goldratt are:
...oven with the success ruler of Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth and other female country ruler such as the legendary Queen Cleopatra of Egypt. The typical assumption of women should always a pace back men contributes to the failures of women in many fields. Gender inequality affects women massively and they are restricted to prove that they are equally capable as the men. However, with proper measures to be taken to solve gender inequality, women would not be left out from experiencing the same privilege as men do. Several measures such as making changes at district and state level mechanism, law of torts and family law would definitely be a good start in breaking the stereotype thinking of the society and help them to discover the breakthrough potential of women. And with some encouragement, who knows that women might one day stand on the same position with men.
When we are born our sex determines how we will be treated and what we will achieve in our lifetime. Men and women in society are very different, women are seen as the minority and submissive to men in some cultures while men are viewed as the dominant force and the superior sex (Henslin, 2015, p.292). The way we view peoples sex can determine how they will be treated, how much they will prosper in life and even how society
“The failure is the mother of success” this Chinese quote said that failure is not the end. Failure is where people learn from their mistake. People cannot be successful all the time. Indeed, there are many people who learned from their failures before being successful. Each failure that people had met is a helpful lesson and valuable experience to help them become a better person.
