Who is to blame? How would you feel if people and your surroundings were affected by your uprising? In our world, these things happen consecutively. Most of the time, unexplainable events occur, and fingers are pointed towards you. Macbeth, a play by William Shakespeare, comes to the realization that characters that help Macbeth do not contribute to Macbeth’s downfall. The character who is to blame for Macbeth’s downfall is Macbeth because Macbeth chooses what he does in life, and he continues to do bad things. He is manipulated, ambitious, and has a choice. In this play, there are characters who may have affected Macbeth’s downfall. A person that can be blamed is Lady Macbeth. Lady Macbeth was ecstatic when she read the title queen. She is committed to achieving that title because she calls forward. “That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here…” (1.5.48-50) expresses how she had to get rid of her woman instincts just to kill Duncan. But then again, Lady Macbeth became weary. When Macbeth started to go insane, she became extremely melancholy overtime. She tried to help Macbeth, but she was stuck in a bad dream. “Wash your hands”

“We will proceed no further in this business” (1.7.35) shows how Macbeth did not want to kill King Duncan. Duncan was Macbeth’s cousin and they loved each other. He chose to kill him due to the manipulation of Lady Macbeth. After the kill, unexplainable events occurred in nature, “And yet dark night strangles the traveling lamp” (2.4.9). “Till famine cling thee” is a scene where Macbeth was in war with England. Malcolm had to take down Macbeth for his bad doings. That was when Macbeth said lock the castle and let the starve or die. Finally, “Know Banquo was your enemy” (3.1.130) shows Macbeth’s selfish side on where he chose to kill Banquo and Fleance because The Witches told Banquo that his sons would be king. He thought if he eliminated Banquo and Fleance, he would remain king
