Despite other choices of projects to attempt in outer space, the search for extraterrestrial life should be our primary goal due to it’s inexhaustible benefit to our scientific and social problems. Within just our own population we are able to help hundreds of thousands affected by a natural disaster. If we discover sentient life forms in outer space, us humans will have many our daunting problems solved. In addition, we will learn our way around the universe enabling us to do other things such as exploiting other planet’s resources.
According to Thomas McDonough, there are already organizations that have begun the search for extraterrestrial life. SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) is conducting projects in order to make first contact with other life. Through the application of scientific logic, SETI scientists have concluded that life forms in outside of our planet are highly plausible. The hypothesis is, because humans are made up of extremely abundant atoms readily available on other planets the chance of other life existing runs high. McDonough continues to state that we might have to engineer various wave signals in order to find the right one to reach other life forms. We must also be patient because it takes many years for these signals to reach a given destination. In the slightest chance that there has been no answer for many years, the outcome will still be positive. If that were the case, then the entire population would be under the assumption that we are alone and thus become inclined to treat the planet with care. Through this process, we have almost concluded that advocating the search for extraterrestrial life as our primary goal in space has its benefits.
Now that we understand how the search for...

Through efforts from organizations like SETI we will advance the search for extraterrestrial life forms. From their researches we will have made a definite call on how and where to continue contacting in the universe, this is why searching for life in outer space should be the primary goal in space exploration. From here we can continue with another option based off information gained from the aliens.
