In order to learn more about a position that interests me, I visited Avada Hearing Care located at 407 S Tower in Centralia. The business specializes in hearing care. The woman’s name that I interviewed was Betty and her title is Administrative Assistant/Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) Manager. Her basic job description is to help and train all PCC’s as well as work in the front office. She told me that she likes the people she works with but dislikes the corporate feel of the business.
To get to a position such as Betty’s, it takes about 3 months to learn the basic information necessary for the job to be able to stand alone. Entry-level applicants need to have computer knowledge, scheduling skills, data entry skills, and the ability to become a fast and productive worker. Wages for an entry-level position are about the state standard, $12-$15 depending on experience. Employees can also expect to get a small bonus of about $10 if the office does well for the month. Insurance is also offered with an employer paid life insurance policy of $10,000. There are not any extra or optional training opportunities so everything you need to know is learned on the job and there are not many advancement opportunities available. The rate of turnover at Avada is very low. Within Betty’s 2.5 years at Avada, they have had the same front office staff.
Avada Hearing Care has the same structure and set up as most businesses. Typical work hours are 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. with little to no take home work. Appropriate dress for the office includes scrubs or business attire. Technology used includes Dell computers with the Goldmine software. Typing takes a big portion of the day with 10 or more documents a day: however, there is no transcription done in this ...

...Care Credit and look at her own statements and see why there is a difference. Another difficult work situation that Betty has faced was when the company hired someone who thought they could do the job, only to end up letting them go because they cannot grasp the concept of the business.
While there difficult aspects to her job, such as hearing about changes within the company that don’t happen, lack of management at times, and that micromanagement is never a good thing, Betty has learned that having a good team means the success in sales is greater. She has also learned that when an employee leaves, patients do become upset. She loves what she does, the people that she works with and that her job has a routine. She hasn’t changed jobs much in her life and she plans on staying with Avada for a while. Overall, she says that being happy with your job is most important.
