I interviewed a teacher, not just any regular teacher. Her name is Marissa Patton, she is 24 years old and lives in Dallas, Pennsylvania. I conducted the interview during our lunch break, I work with Marissa one or two times a week in her classroom. Marissa is a preschool teacher, working under a creative curriculum. This means that there are no worksheets, desks or instruction; the day is based off of play. Marissa is a gentle and kind person yet is respected by the children she works with. Marissa has been working at Little Meadows Learning Center for a total of four years. She worked her first two years as a part time employee due to her college schedule, being a “floater”. The past two years she has been working full time in her own classroom. Many small businesses don’t realize how important their company image really is. The following is a formula for low cost marketing for a small business to create or better their image. To find this formula I interviewed Evan Paull, the owner of a small sign making company based in Annapolis Maryland called ‘Independent Sign Consortium’ or ‘ISC.’ ‘ISC’ was started in 1996 and has had a steady growth ever since. I also interviewed Allison Green, the marketing director of ‘Revisions,’ ‘Revisions’ is based in Baltimore Maryland and is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the mentally ill.
When asked of her daily routine she explained that when someone notices abnormal behavior she calls students to her office to speak with them to find out what is happening. She then works with the social worker, school resource officer, administration and parents to resolve these issues. This is what the majority of her time is spent on with a small portion going to the community events. As I shadowed her for a couple hours of my day what we were able to do is deal with student issues that ranged from young adolescents that had social issues (boyfriend/girlfriend) to students that had a troubled home life and needed assistance. Interviews are very popular among most individuals especially researchers and scholars as they attempt to obtain information and data from an interviewee. However, there are many factors that influence the interview and which determines its success or failure. Often, the interviewer takes charge of the situation, and they have the sole responsibility of asking the questions while the interviewee provides an explanation or an answer to the question asked. Many individuals, teachers or not, only do what they are asked or expected to do. However, going above and beyond and being able to have greater influence on a child’s life is my goal. I know I will love my job and in this position, children and families will be going through difficult and not normative life events. It is essential to extend further assistance to make each individual feel important. As I sat down with Jordan Fisher, on April 30th, we looked out the window to a gloomy, rainy day. It was wet and nasty day, but Jordan agreed to sit down with me to discuss his position as an HR officer. Jordan started with the Federal Government, 30 years ago at the age of 20. Now 50 Jordan is looking forward to retiring with his wife, stating “I enjoy it here, I really do—but I can’t wait to retire.” While Jordan plans to work for one more year before retiring, the knowledge and experience that he has gained from the position will never leave him. Jordan has been a very successful H.R. official because he has integrity, used effective communication and proper documentation.
I chose to interview Regina Geis, who holds the administrative role as acting supervisor for the County Mental Health adult day program, which provides services for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Ms. Geis has held this position for 15 months. This is her first managerial position within a human service agency. Her style of management has changed over this short period of time. She feels that she is now more direct with her direction with staff. She stated, “Maybe now I come across as a little bit cold. But I have learned that I now have to use the least amount of words to get my point across.”
On October 26th, 2016, I had a phone interview with Mrs. Alexsundra Henry, who is an eighth grade gifted language arts teacher at Richards Middle School. She has been a middle school teacher for over twenty years and had experience teaching grade levels sixth to eighth grade. To be a middle school teacher, it is required to have a Bachelor’s degree of education and have at least a minimum of 6 months to 1 year of teaching experience. However, Mrs. Henry took a different educational direction by receiving her Bachelors in mass communications (similar to English) and Master’s in education.
An interview is a meeting and a conversation that happens between a potential candidate for a job position in a company and an interviewer, for the main purpose of the interviewer collecting information about the interviewee - such as their job experiences, qualities, and skills - to determine the eligibility of the interviewee’s capability to take that position in that company.
At the time of interview give a brief introduction of yourself as well as company, give time for answering questions and after interview summarize the things.
Relationships are a commonality among all human beings dating back to the Garden of Eden when Eve was paired with Adam, and can leave lifelong impressions on someone. The story of a person’s past romantic relationship can provide a glimpse not only into his or her history, but also shed light on the type of person they are today as a result of that interaction. Discovery of this information comes about by engaging in a conversation with someone about his or her past, which is what I did with a friend of nine years. Fortunately, the overall experience had a positive impact on both of us.
To inspire and influence others, a leader must possess many skills and abilities. As motivational speaker Peter Northouse, states, “a leader should be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not bully; be thoughtful, but not lazy; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant” (Northouse, 2013) Moving an entire group of individuals toward a singular goal is a considerable undertaking. Without effective communication skills and a clear vision of what needs to be accomplished, one will feel like they are trying to herd cats rather than leading.
Interviews can be conducted in several different ways. There are positive and negative things an interviewer can do during the interview verbally, as well as non-verbally. In the video “An Overview of Investigative Interviewing” an older lady is interviewed as a victim, pertaining to a crime where she was thrown to the ground and robbed of her purse. This paper will reflect on the verbal and non-verbal usage the interviewer used, the specific interview technique style used, and an evaluation based on the seven steps he took during the interview process.
I believe that after interviewing this educator, I have a better understanding of the changes that occurred in my future field. Juliana is a normal 15-year-old girl in high school. Her primary occupations at her age are daughter, sister, and student. She lives in a household of 4 with 1 younger sister, both of her parents, and a cat. Juliana has a close relationship with her younger sister and she told me that “I’m her role model” when her parents are away. Some of her strengths are, she is an honor student who is currently enrolled in a special program in her high school called the International Bachelorette Program (IB). My cooperating teacher has been employed in the field of education for 19 plus years. She has been in her current position as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher at the Lighthouse Learning Center for 12 years. Observing a teacher who has so many years of experience in the classroom is very beneficial. She shared with me this week her teaching philosophy that has evolved from her many years in the classroom. The components of her philosophy include a focus on people, strategies, and tools.
