The first week of this internship was somewhat slow. I spent Tuesday with Kallie who assists Renee through some of the day-to-day operations. On Tuesday we spent time learning how to post stories onto the website for the radio station. Learning how to navigate and properly post to the website I felt was not complicated. The actual website in terms of user navigation and tools is not that different from using other website domains like “Weebly or Wordpress”. My previous experience with the Daily Eastern News in this aspect was very useful a lot of the info in terms of navigation and how to post stories I basically already knew how to do. Renee unfortunately was out during the week because she had a surgery so I did not get any one on one …show more content…
Thursday of last week on my own time I was brainstorming ideas to create a bigger spotlight around the website and the Facebook page. Some of the ideas I have are to create a video possibly each week to post on Saturday to give people the quick rundown of all the scores from the games on Friday and Saturday. I then thought about looking into using “Facebook live” to get a bigger buzz and to keep locals updated on the games in the area. This next Friday will be a perfect opportunity to do so because I will be covering two games. Because I am covering two games I won’t be able to stay at a full game my job will be to gather photos and video and to update Michelle about the games. I plan to brainstorm with Renee and discuss the use of “Facebook live” in reporting and keeping the Facebook page more active during games on Friday nights. Overall, I found the week to be productive however I did not feel like I succeeded much in creating a real stir on the social media side of things. As I’ve learned throughout my time in different public relations classes’ audiences are unpredictable at times I definitely feel that way currently. The post itself only reached at this point and time 686 people in comparison to other posts that have reached far more people in at the very least the 1000’s. Hopefully, by incorporating Facebook live and maybe other applications we can create more

In today’s society new forms of technology have enhanced and in some cases replaced traditional methods of promoting a product. The sports industry, in particular, can utilize these emerging technologies to reach their customers in new and improved ways. This new media merges traditional forms of media such as audio, video and written word with interactive digital technology (Parkhouse, 2012 p. 184). New media includes not only computers, laptops and smartphones, but also all software applications and platforms. Additionally, cross platform software such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram are utilized at an increasing rate as due to the desires of today’s technological society. Many teams use blogging, which provides a venue to hear directly

Comments: Overall Day 1 went well with minor administrative error that was corrected the same day. Not a show stopper.
This week was very exciting in terms of my informational interviews and being able to work security at a music event. The informational interviews not only helped being the classroom to the real world but also provided me with real examples to better strengthen the connection. I also learned a lot in terms of dealing with the public in a busy environment and how to most successfully defuse a situation in which alcohol and attitudes are involved.
It is easily accessible and fairly easy to navigate. However, this website is very plain, does not give the proper information, and has hardly anything on it. The article needs more to it than what it already has. It also does not have a copyright date. The year it was copyrighted is available, but not the date itself. Not only is it uninformative, it is problematic in format. The colors of the website are black, white, and there are a few words in red. It is very boring to look at and needs some updating.
The use of social media in sports is a relatively new trend. Social media has enabled people to become more interactive with their favorite celebrities, athletes, and sports teams. Social media allows fan’s to keep up with their favorite teams with up to date news and it also helps the organization, specifically their marketing department. Sports teams have utilized Facebook and Twitter pages for their organizations in hopes of gaining revenue as well as the attention of their fans and casual fans. Social media is constantly evolving to keep up with the newest social trends and fads.
A person’s life is reflected on Facebook. Because so much of someone’s life is on Facebook, anyone can have a sense of what is going on in their life. This is beneficial for parents away from their children in college or just away from the nest. A visual image is more attractive than reading a lengthy blog about an individual's day. With Facebook someone can post albums at a time and can share a special event that just recently occurred. Instant messaging has improved the speed that users can communicate with each other. If they see that their friend is online all that needs to be done is a message with the word “Hey.” Facebook allows for users to connect with friends time zones away.
This is a matter of pleasure for me to acknowledge my deep sense of gratitude to University Sains of Malaysia for giving me an opportunity to explore my abilities via this internship programme. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my academic supervisor, Dr. Amirul Shah for their valuable guidance and advice in completing this internship.
I spent much of the day sitting at my desk wondering what I could do to make myself look busy. I was not given any instructions upon my arrival and I was never really given instructions in general throughout the entire experience. I expected someone to take me under their wing and show me exactly what to do on a daily basis. That dream soon died after I realized my job was to sit at my desk and find busy work until I was told to do something or I was working on one of my three projects. Unfortunately, I was disappointed at first because I expected so much more from this internship, but I soon realized everything I learn, no matter how small, will help me in the long
With the ability to track location and post on profiles in line with the activities that the users engage in frequently, it seems the new trend makes the users to post the daily occurrences of their personal lives to Facebook and other related social networking sites. Even though Facebook may seem time consuming and addictive, users have different ways of interacting with others using the website by logging in at different times to see the new postings on their Facebook page. Initially, one could feel curious why many users feel they always have to inform their Facebook friends about their daily activities in a span of a few hours. However, Facebook has turned into an online diary in which users can track down their activities, moods, and preferences. Furthermore, it appears as if several people currently put most of their personal matters or intimate information surrounding their ways of life on such websites for others to comprehend. Hence, Facebook as a social networking site rapidly grew into a Popular Culture artifact even though people still spend most of their time getting busy with their daily activities, such as working, schooling, and attending to children. With the advancement in technology, even employees in the modern-day business world feel the need to improve and learn more about other people, countries, cultures, situations, as well as competing with them globally (Greenwood
